Top 10 Best Christmas Commercials

It’s not quite Christmas until you see that first snow covered commercial. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Best Christmas Commercials.

For this list, we’ll be looking at the best and most memorable Christmas commercials from the tear jerkers, to the Christmas carol renditions of our favorite jingles, these few seconds of airtime provide a holly, jolly good time.

#10: The Song (2014)

Apple likes to create commercials that show the emotional advantages to the latest in technology... like being able to sing a duet with your grandmother from an old record she made for her husband. We can guess that this woman hasn’tlistened to this song in a long while, and we can also guess that the reason is because her husband passed away. Thanks to her granddaughter, she has a newfound love for the song as she fondly looks at some old photos, and we can’thelp but cry along with her.

#9: A Fruity Pebbles Christmas (1992)

Why doesn’t Barney try asking for a bowl of cereal instead of coming up with these elaborate plans? We suppose the commercials wouldn’t be as humorous if Barney used logic... or if Fred saw through these obvious disguises. However, with this 90s Christmas ad, Barney’s disguise comes a bit too late. As we hear a Fruity Pebbles rendition to “Deck the Halls,” Santa is at the house before Barney slides down the chimney. Fortunately for Barney, Santa encourages Fred to share, and the two friends learn an important lesson... until the next commercial, of course.

#8: The Budweiser Clydesdales (1987)

Despite being a Budweiser commercial there isn’t a hint of beer. In fact, the commercial isn’t advertising anything as the company wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday season. The imagery is like seeing a snow globe come to life. The snow is coming down pretty hard, but there’s a Christmas tree being transported via sleigh and the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales. Then we just watch them march through the snow, passing through a quaint little neighborhood as we watch through the window of someone’s home. It’s simple, but effective, and it really sets the tone for the holidays.

#7: Folgers Brings Peter Home (1986)

Having loved ones come home for the holidays is a tried and true formula to tug at the heartstrings. This, of course, has led to many commercials, but there’s something endearing about this classic Folgers ad. Maybe it’s the Christmas-ized version of the classic jingle. Maybe it’s the excited cry of “Peter!” Maybe it’s the best part of waking up. Folgers has always stood by this slogan, but watching Peter’s parents slowly wake up and knowing the surprise that awaits them downstairs? We were convinced that Folgers was made of coffee beans and love.

#6: “They Do Exist” (1996)

We all reach an age where we learn the devastating truth about our favorite candy coated characters: they’re delicious. This Christmas commercial plays on the idea of what does and doesn’t exist -- which isn’t new when it comes to Christmas ads. What makes this commercial so fun is the fact that two unbelievable figures are, well... skeptical. You’d think a walking, talking M&M would believe in Santa, and on the flip side, you’d think a guy with a workshop full of elves would believe in anything. Turns out: neither one believes in the other until...

#5: Protip: Get Santa Oreos (1987)
What kid doesn’t want to stay up to try and catch a glimpse of Santa? More importantly, what kid doesn’t stress about what kind of cookies to leave out? No worries, the kid in this commercial knows exactly what to do, unfortunately, he sleeps through the entire thing! Mr. Claus definitely appreciates the cookies, so much so that not a single O-R-E-O is left behind, and really, can you blame him? This is a commercial we can all relate to, whether it’s from a parental POV, or from a fond, childhood memory of never being able to stay awake for Santa.

#4: Campbell’s Presents: Frosty The Snowkid (1993)

The weather outside is, indeed, frightful, so frightful that even a snowman needs to go inside to warm up. At least we’re led to believe that this is a snowman, but it turns out it’s just a kid buried in snow. Is the commercial shot in Canada? There, we made a Canada snow joke for the holidays. The snow-covered child is able to warm up quickly with a big bowl of Campbell’s soup, and unlike sitting in front of a fireplace, Campbell’s is delicious and makes for a great meal. So let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

#3: We Wish You A Hershey’s Kisses (1989)

Hershey’s Kisses are perfectly bell-shaped, so why not use them to play a classic Christmas song while advertising your candy? One Kiss serves as the conductor to a group of red and green Kisses, then we watch the Kisses ring-a-dig-dig to the tune of “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” It’s only a few seconds, but it puts a smile on our faces every time that last red Kiss rings its little heart out, then lets out an exhausted “PHEW” when the song is over. What can we say: humanized candy works for us.

#2: “Did You Say Honey AND Nuts?” (1989)

Is there anyone grumpier than Ebenezer Scrooge during the holidays? All right, you got us there, but Scrooges are born sourpusses, especially on Christmas. There’s no need for the Ghosts of Various Christmases to show this particular Scrooge the error of his ways, not when there’s a cute bee with a box of Honey Nut Cheerios. Even Scrooge finds himself in a better mood with he realizes that the cereal is made with honey and nuts! If Ebenezer can find the joy in a good bowl of cereal, then surely, the general public can too, right?

#1: The Coca-Cola Polar Bears (1997)

There’s no company quite like Coca-Cola when it comes to advertising during the holidays. It’s gotten to the point where we sit and wait for that Coca-Cola caravan to drive through our town as we sing that catchy tune. While the songs we’ve heard throughout the years have put us in good spirits, it’s those iconic polar bears that really set the tone for holiday ads. Watching the bear family try to bring in a Christmas tree or share a coke with penguins has become a holiday tradition. It’s cute. It’s fun. It’s always Coca-Cola.
