Top 10 Must See Trailers of February 2017

Forget Valentine’s Day, we spent all our love this month on these spectacular sneak peaks. Welcome to Watchmojo.com and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top 10 must see trailers of February 2017!

For this list, we’ve ranked the best film, TV and video game trailers released throughout February.

#10: “The Bad Batch” (2017)

Taking place just beyond the Texan border, our first trailer introduces us to a dusty, dystopic wasteland where seemingly anything goes. “The Bad Batch” sees emerging actress Suki Waterhouse star alongside the likes of Keanu Reeves, Jim Carey and Jason Momoa, as her character, Arlen, experiences the harshest extremes of human nature – including the losing of her limbs by way of hacksaw. It’s brutal. It’s badass. An intense two minutes, held together by a heavy Firefly beat. Forget ‘survival of the fittest’, only the fiercest succeed here.

#9: “The House” (2017)

What to do when you realise you can no longer fund your daughter to go to college? Well, if you’re Will Ferrell and Amy Phoeler, you set-up an illegal gambling den and boldly voyage into a wild world of roulette wheels, blackjack tables and betting on which one of your friends would win in a fist fight. The trailer for “The House” is jam-packed with trademark Ferrell and Phoeler funniness, from kid DJs to questionable shades, to unconvincing threats and unintentional violence. All bets are off with this one; it’s sure to be comedy gold.

#8: “Song to Song” (2017)

A trailer for a movie six years in the making, director Terrence Malick started filming “Song to Song” way back in 2011, yet his long-anticipated amble into indie rock ‘n’ roll is only now ready for release. A killer cast is headed by Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman, all of whom are introduced for this stylish, sexually charged sneak peek. A fun, frantic and faintly hypnotic first look, it seems “Song to Song” will be worth the long, long wait.

#7: “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” (2017)

If you were to pen a recipe list for the perfect horror movie, our next trailer has many of the must-have ingredients. Atmospheric music, heightening tension, creepy setting, emotional instability in some (or possibly all) characters, grisly deaths, ominous threats, and references to devil worship – it’s all here! “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” sees a young, angelic-looking girl seemingly forgotten by her parents, and therefore forced to stay at her catholic boarding school. Clearly it’s no simple misunderstanding however, and something seriously sinister is afoot.

#6: “The Lost City of Z” (2017)

In 1925, British explorer Percy Fawcett travelled to and through the Amazon in ill-fated search for an ancient civilisation, the lost city of ‘Z’. Fast forward 92 years and Percy’s story is inspiration for cinematic adventure, with lead actor Charlie Hunnam strapping on his boots to front the expedition. This clip takes us to the tropical heart of the South American rainforest where, despite all his doubters, Fawcett hopes to rewrite human history. As Hunnam says, ‘there’s no going back’, and there’s no way we’re missing this movie!

#5: “Personal Shopper” (2017)

Having captivated critics at the Cannes Film Festival, “Personal Shopper” sees Kristen Stewart’s Maureen Cartwright cater to the rich and famous, searching Paris for the very best in high fashion. However, when she isn’t shopping for other people’s outfits, she’s trying to decipher the mystery of her dead twin brother. With discussions of the afterlife, the appearance of ghostly signs and a sudden gory death, this trailer is overloaded with edge of your seat eeriness, and an ongoing sense that things may not be quite as they seem.

#4: “Life” (2017)

The International Space Station seems a claustrophobic place, even at the best of times. But the six-man crew in the trailer for “Life”, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds, are more than happy to make extra room for their latest passenger – an alien lifeform fresh from Mars. However, what starts as a historic scientific breakthrough quickly descends into hellish, homicidal disaster when the alien goes on a devastating attack. There’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and no obvious way to escape. In short, it’s kill or be killed.

#3: “The Beguiled” (2017)

A remake of the 1971 Clint Eastwood drama and based on Thomas Cullinan’s 1966 novel of the same name, Sofia Coppola takes the director’s chair for this latest version of “The Beguiled”. When Colin Farrell’s wounded Civil War soldier shows up unexpectedly at an 1860s all-girls house, he is taken in and given time to rehabilitate. But as the patient strikes up affairs with some of the women who have cared for him (including Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning’s characters, at least), the arrangement swiftly turns sour. And as this trailer closes, Farrell’s fearful words are left ringing in our ears.

#2: “It Comes At Night” (2017)

Today’s runner-up takes us on a slow and scary POV journey through a hallway to a red door, which, by the end of this trailer, we are very certain we don’t want to open! The first look at “it Comes at Night” begins with the sounds of characters convincing themselves that everything is ‘fine’, but ends with a desperate, repetitive and clearly very frightened voice – and no matter what she says, things are not OK. A teaser which truly teases, this clip doesn’t reveal much in the way of story, but the shivers it sends down your spine are there to stay for a very long time.
Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
“Aftermath” (2017)
“Feud” (2017)
“Colossal” (2017)

#1: “Stranger Things: Season 2” (2017)

Ever since it became the surprise TV sensation of 2016, fans of the Netflix series “Stranger Things” have eagerly awaited news on season two. We got our first real glimpse of the show’s return during Super Bowl LI, and a 36-second run-through with snippets of surviving main characters, Eleven, included, and tiny hints at how the story will unfold – the Ghostbusters gear looks awesome; the giant spider monster thing looks incredible! From the Eggo ad at the trailer’s beginning, to the Upside Down Netflix logo at its close, this is one helluva half a minute!
