Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Celebs You Forgot Were on Dancing with the Stars
For this list, we’ll be looking at the stars who either appeared on the show a long time ago or simply didn’t get a chance to make much of an impact.
Did we forget any other dancing stars? Let us know in the comments.
#10: Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino
Season 11
In Season 11, The Situation became the first “Jersey Shore” cast member to compete on the show. Although he and his partner Karina Smirnoff clearly had great chemistry, his subpar dance skills often left them at the bottom of the leaderboard. After his famous washboard abs failed to distract the judges or audience from his inelegant Argentine tango during Week 4, they were eliminated. Apparently, he was so upset by the judges’ criticism that he stormed off. Sorrentino said he had hoped this would be an opportunity to “show America a different side to [him].” But clearly, this wasn’t the situation he wanted.
#9: Cody Linley
Season 7
This actor has a plethora of screen credits, but you probably know him best as Miley’s love interest Jake Ryan on “Hannah Montana.” At just eighteen, he was the youngest contestant to compete in Season 7, and the youngest male contestant on the show thus far. He and his partner Julianne Hough were pretty solid every week, too. However, after Hough was hospitalized, previously benched pro, Edyta Śliwińska, stepped in. Hough was able to return for the semifinals and dance with Linley in what would become their last dances. They may not have made it to the finals, but they finished in a very respectable 4th place.
#8: Drew Carey
Season 18
You probably recognize Carey from a variety of programs, such as “The Drew Carey Show,” “The Price is Right,” or as the host of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” But he also danced all the way to Week Six with his partner Cheryl Burke in “Dancing with the Stars’s” eighteenth season. The comedian and presenter confessed that learning the technical side was difficult, but dancing on the show was a dream come true and his enthusiasm each week proved it. Sadly, it was his Tango to Rick James’s “Super Freak” that ended his dancing journey. But he went out on a high and bowed out gracefully.
#7: Bill Nye
Season 17
The “Science Guy” was paired with Tyne Stecklein in the show’s seventeenth season. If you don’t remember that, it might be because they didn’t make it past Week 3. They were at the bottom of the leaderboard in Week 1, but their fans seemingly pulled them through. Then, in Week 2, Nye sustained an injury during their paso. Ever the trooper, he returned to the dance floor with a jazz routine the following week, despite his torn ligament. Turns out America loves an underdog but not an injured one, so the pair was eliminated. He unfortunately won’t be remembered as Bill Nye the dancing guy.
#6: Mark Cuban
Season 5
It was out of the boardroom and into the ballroom for this Shark back in Season 5. In fact, he was the first member of “Shark Tank” to make a splash on the dance show. Interestingly, Cuban was once paid $25 an hour to teach disco dancing to sororities. Yet, he and his partner Kym Johnson found themselves in the bottom two in Week 1. However, despite his rather stiff and awkward movements, they managed to reel it back in and stay safe for another three weeks. But it was their “I Dream of Jeannie” samba that had the audience declaring, “We’re out!”
#5: James Maslow
Season 18
Even if you don’t recall who danced it, you will probably remember this phenomenal contemporary routine to “Frozen’s” “Let It Go” from Season 18. Dancing with Peta Murgatroyd, the “Big Time Rush” singer and actor achieved the first perfect score of the season and would continue to nab his fair share of tens after that. James and Peta made it all the way to the finals, mesmerizing audiences with a passionate and steamy tango that scored one point shy of a perfect 30. However, things quickly cooled off when the pair was eliminated after the first night. They finished in fourth place overall.
#4: Mischa Barton
Season 22
If you forgot that this “O.C.” star was on the show then don’t worry, it sounds like it was an experience she’d prefer to forget too. Dancing with Artem Chigvintsev in Season 22, the actor compared her time on the show to “The Hunger Games” and called the experience “awful.” Barton claimed that the show offered her more creative control over her costumes which ultimately wasn’t followed through. It was also no secret that she and Chigvintsev had a fraught relationship. In Week 2, Barton was among the bottom three and the following week they samba’d their way out of the show.
#3: Kim Kardashian
Season 7
Unless you’d been extensively keeping up with this Kardashian, you might not remember her brief stint in Season 7. Partnered with Mark Ballas, she managed to awkwardly stumble through three dances before audiences decided that they’d had enough. Poor Kim looked so uncomfortable on the dance floor, she lacked rhythm and had no confidence. Even Mark admitted that she wasn’t “the best dancing partner.” Apparently, ahead of Milo Manheim’s turn in the ballroom, she told him that “It’s the worst,” and, “You feel like an idiot.” We can only imagine that she probably breathed a sigh of relief after getting booted off the show.
#2: Lil’ Kim
Season 8
If, like us, you’re wondering how this icon slipped your radar, don’t worry. She was partnered with Derek Hough way back in Season 8. Lil’ Kim was a fan favorite, consistently receiving high scores for her amazing dance numbers. However, everything changed in Week 9 when they exited in a shock elimination. As soon as their names were called, the auditorium erupted with booing. The rapper, whose real name is Kimberly Denise Jones, shared that it didn’t take much convincing to get her to sign up in the first place. She told MTV, “I have to do this. Dancing is in my heart.”

#1: Buzz Aldrin
Season 10
We’d be over the moon if you remembered that one of the first men to step on the moon also took a giant leap onto the dance floor. Aged eighty, Aldrin went from roaming among the stars to joining their lineup in the show’s tenth season. He and partner Ashly DelGrosso made it to Week 3 before hurtling back down to earth when they were eliminated. Speaking of the experience, Aldrin said, “I never thought I'd walk on the moon, but I certainly never thought I'd dance on TV.” Well, they do say that “Dancing with the Stars” is an out-of-this-world experience.
