Reality TV romance is a risky business, even if it's animated, and these hookups are living proof of it. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Total Drama Couples.
For this list, we’ll be looking at some of the most dramatic, sweet, and sometimes hilarious love stories from one of our favorite animated series based on reality television. We’ll only be discussing the canon couples and attractions in the show, but let us know in the comments who you would’ve liked to see hook up. Also, expect spoilers ahead since these romances are really plot-heavy.
#10: Noah & Emma
Aside from a hilarious accident with Cody, Noah from the original cast has never had a special somebody in his life. However, that changes when he and Owen enter the Ridonculous Race, and Noah first meets Emma from the Sisters team. Noah was smitten the moment he first laid eyes on her, though Emma was more interested in getting further in the game to notice. However, their partners notice because, let’s face it, both Noah and Emma are snarky know-it-alls… they’re practically MADE for each other. Fortunately, a little teammate meddling is able to bring them together… but it works TOO well. While their relationship is sweet, it comes with the risk of them getting distracted by the other during the competition.
#9: Dakota & Sam
Talk about a mixed pair – Sam’s a dorky GameGuy and Dakota’s a fame-hungry socialite always ready to smile for the cameras. However, it turns out that they’re not so different after all given how obsessive they are with their personal items. Over time, we see this unlikely friendship blossom into something much sweeter when Dakota sees what a nice guy Sam is; she even tries to give him her number. Sam always thought Dakota was pretty, but when she later mutates into a giant monster –thanks to Chris - he isn’t bothered by it. In fact, he thinks it makes her even more amazing. This sweet, twisted tale really emphasizes finding the beauty within both parties.
#8: Lindsay & Tyler
It may seem like a cliché hookup, but we have to give it up to the franchise’s very first couple – Tyler the clumsy jock and Lindsay the pretty airhead. Unfortunately, there’s one small hindrance in their relationship… for whatever reason, even when he’s right in front of her, Lindsay has trouble remembering Tyler’s name. We have to give him credit though; Tyler’s got the patience of a saint as he remains loyal through and through, never giving up trying to make her remember him. His efforts ultimately pay off and the two maintain a surprisingly healthy relationship with no drama and no falling-outs. Hopefully, Lindsay has Tyler’s name burned into her memory from now on.
#7: Izzy & Owen
As a pair of misfits, the Psycho Hose Beast Izzy and the Party Guy Owen have a very… unpredictable relationship. Owen publicly admits to loving Izzy, while Izzy is usually off in her own little world –though she’ll occasionally show that she does return her “Big-O’s” feelings. Even though the two have their tender moments, Owen eventually discovers how painful Izzy’s love can really be, and has second thoughts. Tragically, a freak head injury makes Izzy extremely intelligent, and she dumps Owen –making the big guy realize how much he misses her. The worst part is that even when Izzy returns to her old self, we never see them get back together despite the funny, sweet, and painful chemistry they shared.
#6: Harold & Leshawna
What happens when a skinny Napoleon Dynamite parody falls for a loud, large and in charge gal? A roller coaster of a love story, that’s what. Harold fell hard for LeShawna back in Season One and sent her secret admirer notes; when she found out it was him, she didn’t waste any time. Near the end of the season, LeShawna realizes that they moved way too fast and should just be friends, which is pretty understandable, but Harold doesn’t give up so easily. Since then, LeShawna acts very protective of Harold and even admits to still having feelings for the skinny little geek. While we never see them officially hooking up again, let’s not rule anything out.
#5: Heather & Alejandro
As the OG mean girl of the original cast, Heather never had time to develop true feelings for anyone. That is, until Season Three when she ends up going toe-to-toe with someone arguably more diabolical than her – Alejandro. While Heather is mostly immune to his charming manipulation, she can’t hide the fact that she may have the hots for him, nor can Alejandro deny that his own feelings for her AREN’T just strategic. In a way, their relationship is like a twisted fairy tale – two diabolical minds clashing for dominance in the game, only to realize that they just might be made for each other. Now if only they could stop trying to outdo one another.
#4: Bridgette & Geoff
Since the start of the very first season, Geoff –the laid-back party dude- has had his eye on the clumsy-but-sweet surfer chick, Bridgette. Unfortunately, most of his attempts to impress her usually backfired, but she came around eventually. Since then, the two have practically been inseparable – constantly making out with each other, and even getting to host the Aftermath talk show together. However, these two have had more than their fair share of falling-outs – whether from Geoff’s “Captain Hollywood” attitude in Season Two, or Bridgette briefly falling for Alejandro in Season Three. Despite this, they always manage to work things out in the end, and still to this day remain one of the longest-lasting couples in Total Drama history.
#3: Zoey & Mike
Even before stepping on the island, it was clear that love was in the air for Zoey and Mike. Alas, things get complicated for Mike thanks to his Multiple Personality Disorder, and he’s afraid to tell Zoey out of fear of rejection –even though hiding the truth from her does more harm than good. However, when Zoey DOES find out the truth… she’s totally fine with it. Turns out she’s got a thing for oddballs, giving a beautiful emphasis on the beauty within trope. While their interactions next season are limited thanks to Mal -Mike’s evil personality - the two end up going in the finale together and sharing their first onscreen kiss, which is a reward worth way more than a million dollars.
#2: Courtney & Duncan
With Duncan being the juvie punk and Courtney being the Type A contestant, these two clashed like there’s no tomorrow, though they make it PAINFULLY obvious that there’s something more between them. Eventually, they finally give in to those feelings and join together as one of the most developed couples of the first season. Sadly, the love between them slowly fades away when Courtney’s trust issues, competitive nature, and controlling attitude slowly drive Duncan away. In the end, they ultimately break up when Duncan and Gwen share a kiss, resulting in one of the most dramatic love triangles in animation history. These two practically defined the opposites attract trope, but a lack of trust ultimately crushed what could’ve been a sweet romance story.

#1: Gwen & Trent
Even from the first episode, we saw a subtle spark between goth girl Gwen and cool musician Trent. Over time, with every bonding experience they share, we see that spark blossom into something bigger. Though they had their hardships –mostly thanks to Heather - they managed to overcome it all before finally coming together in the season finale. Unfortunately, their story doesn’t end happily next season when Trent becomes obsessed with impressing Gwen, only to drive her away by throwing challenges for her. Thankfully, the two still end things on friendly terms, which is all any couple in this series can ask for since even the most developed “Total Drama” couple may not last forever –as much as we wish they could.
