#10: Laura Marano as Scout Y
“The X's” (2005-06)
“The X’s” is a Nickelodeon show full of awesome voices including Patrick Warburton, Wendie Malick, Dee Bradley Baker, and Stephen Root. The X’s are a family of spies who must hide their secret from the outside world. “Austin & Ally”’s Laura Marano plays Scout Y, the youngest member of The Y’s, who are the X’s rival family of spies. Although we know Ally as clumsy and awkward, Scout Y is anything but! Marano was also only around ten years old when she voiced the character, so you probably won’t recognize her voice, but it’s still really cute! Scout Y acts as Truman’s female counterpart so you imagine she’s pretty intense… We can only wonder ‘Y’! (Badum tss!)
#9: Brandon Mychal Smith as Michelangelo
“Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (2018-20)
Omigosh! Anyone else remember the hilarious duo, Nico and Grady, from “Sonny with a Chance”? Brandon Mychal Smith played Nico and reprised the character for what was branded as the show’s third season: “So Random!”. More recently, however, you’ll recognize Smith’s voice in the role of the orange-masked turtle in the new reboot of “TMNT”. This series made it a point to deviate from the typical characteristics of the turtles; so, while Michelangelo is usually a “party dude”, this Mikey is more artistic and laid-back. His fun-loving nature is still ever-present, though, and Smith is absolutely perfect for the role! One thing’s for sure: his casting wasn’t ‘So Random!’
#8: Orlando Brown as Cornelius Fillmore
“Fillmore!” (2002-04)
Holla! While “That’s So Raven” was beginning its first seasons on air, Orlando Brown was quite the busy guy. Not only was he playing Raven’s best friend, Eddie, he was also voicing Cornelius Fillmore in the animated series “Fillmore!”. This is one of those shows that you think you dreamt up until you find an episode or image of it somewhere in your 20s. It centered around a middle school safety patrol group, with Cornelius and his partner, Ingrid, solving some pretty intense middle school crimes. Around the same time, Brown could also be heard as Sticky Webb in yet another classic Disney show: “The Proud Family”.
#7: Jake T. Austin as Diego
“Go, Diego, Go!” (2005-11)
If you watched “Wizards of Waverly Place” growing up, you know Jake T. Austin as the lovable and youngest member of the Russo family, Max. But you might have also heard his voice, even before “Wizards” came on the scene. He played Dora the Explorer’s cousin, Diego, in the first three seasons of his own spinoff “Go, Diego, Go!”. Whether they were Diego’s animal-rescuing adventures or Max’s wizard adventures, it turns out Jake T. Austin played a bigger role in our childhood than we thought! Maybe we can petition for a “Wizards” spinoff... How about “Go, Max, Go!”?
#6: Sabrina Carpenter as Melissa Chase
“Milo Murphy's Law” (2016-19)
As far as newer Disney Channel stars go, Sabrina Carpenter is quite the recognizable face. She was in “Girl Meets World”, the much-anticipated spinoff series of the fan-favorite “Boy Meets World”. Carpenter played Maya, the best friend of main character Riley Matthews, who--if you were a fan of the original series--is Cory and Topenga’s daughter. Carpenter didn’t have to look very far to do voicework as Melissa Chase in yet another Disney Channel show: “Milo Murphy's Law”. Funnily enough, this series is actually made by the same creators of “Phineas and Ferb”, and features a crossover with Phineas, Doofenshmirtz, and the whole gang! That was so unexpected… And by unexpected, we mean completely expected!
#5: Zac Efron as Gary
“Human Discoveries” (2019-)
What time is it?! Apparently, it’s time to discover fire and… other stuff. At least, for Zac Efron’s character, Gary, it is. “Human Discoveries” is an adventure-comedy about a group of friends living at the dawn of civilization and their discoveries of human innovations like the wheel and alcohol, among other things. It’s certainly a move away from Efron’s classic Disney role as star basketball player Troy Bolton. Either way, something tells us Gary and his friends will definitely have to “get their heads in the game” for this one!
#4: Raven Symoné as Monique
“Kim Possible” (2002-07)
Monique is probably one of the most underrated characters in this show. She’s stylish, sweet, loyal, and always gives the best advice. The friend we need, but not the friend we deserve! As such, she gave Kim one very important thing Ron couldn’t: girl time. As much as we all love Ron, we can’t imagine he would’ve been very keen on going shopping, getting his nails done, or getting his eyebrows waxed. Raven Symoné is actually still voice acting for Disney Channel as the news reporter Maria Media on “Big City Greens”. This just in: Raven is incredibly talented! (But we already knew that!)
#3: Brenda Song as Anne Boonchuy
“Amphibia” (2019-)
Yay Brenda for landing this role! We all know Brenda Song as the iconic, self-absorbed London Tipton in “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and “The Suite Life on Deck”. Heck, you might even know her as Wendy Wu: the Homecoming Warrior! But recently, Song has also been the voice of the titular character, Anne Boonchuy, in the newer series “Amphibia”. When Anne opens a magical music box, she finds herself in a land of amphibians, where she moves in with a loveable family of frogs, the Plantars, and does her best to help the town. It’s definitely quite the ‘ribbiting’ show!
#2: Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn
“Phineas and Ferb” (2007-15)
Hey Ferb, we know what we’re going to do today! Discuss how awesome Ashley Tisdale was in this role! We’re not sure there’s anyone else who could have played Candace. You can tell Tisdale absolutely gives it her all in every single line--all of which are perfectly delivered, by the way. And she’s not the only Disney Channel star to wind up voicing characters in the show! You’ll also recognize Mitchel Musso--who played Oliver on “Hannah Montana” and King Brady in “Pair of Kings”--as Candace’s crush and later boyfriend, Jeremy Johnson. Also worth a quick mention are Alyson Stoner, who played Isabella, and Corbin Bleu, who played Coltrane. It’s a whole party of Disney Channel stars!
#1: Christy Carlson Romano as Kim Possible
“Kim Possible” (2002-07)
What’s the sitch? Christy Carlson Romano totally nailed Kim Possible’s voice, that’s what! She had just the right amount of attitude and just the right humility--perfect for a teen hero! After playing Ren on “Even Stevens”, Romano definitely knew what she was doing as far as playing overachieving older sisters. What she (presumably) had to learn, though, was how to portray a cheerleader who constantly saves the world! Then again, the theme song tells us she’s just your “basic, average girl”, so… maybe Romano had it in the bag! Or, in the cargo pants pocket… Whatever works!
