Sometimes in life it’s best to just bury the hatchet … even with your enemies. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Enemies Turned Friends in TV.

For this list, we’re looking at TV rivals who later became friends. If some foes went a step further and became lovers, then sorry, they’re not on this particular list - but but don't worry folks, they still have each other.

#10: Root & the Whole Team
“Person of Interest” (2011-2016)

A complicated, and ruthless figure, Root - real name Samantha Groves - has a tendency to rub people the wrong way. This will happen when you do things like threaten to kill them, and stick syringes in their neck. To be fair to Root, she’s not the only character inPerson of Interest with a dark side. Eventually, Root does put aside her bleak and homicidal tendencies in an attempt at being a better person. Nowhere is her softer side more evident than her relationship with Sameen Shaw. Sure, they get off to a rocky start, with Root taking her captive and threatening to torture her . . . but hey, that was just Root being Root.

#9: Nick & the Peaceful Wesen
“Grimm” (2011-2017)

It can’t be easy waking up one day and finding out your life up until that point has been a lie. That’s what happened to poor Nick Burkhardt - just as he was about to propose to his longtime girlfriend too. Talk about bad timing. The thing is, Nick’s a Grimm, and so it’s up to him to protect humanity from the dangerous Wesen around. Luckily, it turns out there’s as much friendship and romance to be had in the supernatural world as there is in the natural one. Nick just had to realize that not all Wesen are bad, some of them are actually pretty good.

#8: Bonnie & Damon
“The Vampire Diaries” (2009-2017)

As a witch, Bonnie had absolutely no love for the callous vampire Damon. Especially when she suspected he was guilty of turning her friend into a vampire too. Their feud leads to bloodshed, but later on, Bonnie’s loyalty to her friends forces them into an unwanted alliance. Heck, she even saved his life at one point just so her bestie, Elena - Damon's soulmate - wouldn't get upset. It’s only after many years of this grudging allegiance that Bonnie and Damon finally form a genuine platonic bond of their own. About time guys!

#7: Clarke & Bellamy
“The 100” (2014-)

Sent back to a post-apocalyptic Earth on a reconnaissance mission, here’s a couple of juvenille delinquents who really did not get along. It’s easy to see why: to Bellamy, Clarke represents the spoiled and privileged elite; to Clarke, Bellamy is foolhardy and headstrong. If it wasn’t for the fact that they were forced to go on a such an important mission together they probably would never have seen past these differences. However, with humanity’s future at stake, these two natural leaders begin to recognize each others finer qualities. Animosity is soon transformed into a working partnership, and from there, a real friendship is formed.

#6: Goku & Vegeta
“Dragon Ball Z” (1996-2003)

It’s a friendship rooted in rivalry, and based on battle, but a friendship all the same. Both descendants of the same warrior race, these two Saiyans had been locking horns since the moment they first met. Things probably would have stayed that way had the universe not served them a bigger fish to fry. Forming an alliance against their mutual enemy, Frieza, the two embark on a path that will eventually lead to a sturdy friendship … after they kick each others butt a few times along the way.

#5: The Pines Twins & Pacifica Northwest
“Gravity Falls” (2012-2016)

This was a mismatch from the outset: where Dipper and Mabel Pines are amicable and down-to-earth, Pacifica Northwest is snobby and competitive; where the Pines are humble and of modest means, Pacifica is arrogant and wealthy. For a while, the Pines just couldn't do anything right in the eyes of the bratty and attention seeking Pacifica. However, that would all change after Dipper Pines helped her evict a ghost from her mansion. Pacifica begins to soften and see the goodness in Dipper and Mabel, and even manages to drop some of her pretentious airs and graces. It’s amazing what helping someone catch a ghost can do for a friendship.

#4: Regina & Emma
“Once Upon a Time” (2011-2018)

One the good hearted saviour, the other an evil queen . . . it’s no wonder these two didn’t hit it off from the beginning. But considering the fact that they share a son - it’s complicated - they have good reason to put aside their differences. Originally marked by animosity, this union was always on the brink of collapse, a low point seeing Regina attempting to poison Emma with an apple turnover. Since then they’ve managed to turn their relationship around and can now consider themselves true friends. As is often the case, Emma and Regina realized they had bigger problems to face than one another, and decided that working together was for the best.

#3: Alvin & Stoick
“Dreamworks: Dragons” (2012-)

You can see why Stoick would avoid being friends with someone who goes by the name of “Alvin the Treacherous”. Treachery isn’t exactly the most reassuring of character traits. Even so, these two actually started out as best friends until Stoick’s ascension to the role of chief of the tribe got Alvin all jealous and angry. He soon found himself banished to the Outcast tribe where his treachery was more welcome. Decades of animosity passes before the two realise that the bond they created as youths still exists, and Alvin and Stoick save each other in battle … just like the good old days.

#2: Kevin & Ben
“Ben 10: Alien Force” (2008-2010)

It all started out so well for Kevin and Ben, bonding over their mutual ability to turn into powerful alien characters. The trouble was, Kevin’s natural power was a source of great distress, whereas Ben’s power was much more positive. Ben was reluctant to use his power for his own gains and disapproved when Kevin did so, and Kevin embarked on a dark path of destruction and chaos. Only after dropping to the depths of an eternal prison universe did Kevin change his ways and become willing to team up with Ben, eventually becoming a valued ally and member of the team.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a couple of honorable mentions:

Twilight & Trixie
“My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (2010-)

Dinobot & Rattrap
“Beast Wars: Transformers” (1996-1999)

#1: Zuko & Aang
“Avatar: The Last Airbender” (2003-2008)

As a disgraced prince of the Fire Nation, Zuko wanted nothing more than to capture Aang and deliver him to his people. Understandably, Aang had other ideas and thus began an epic game of cat and mouse as Zuko tried desperately to restore his honor. Luckily for Zuko, Aang wasn’t the type to hold a grudge, so when the opportunity arrived for Aang to take Zuko’s life, he spared him. Initially, this wasn’t enough for the headstrong Zuko, but then Aang spared him again … and then one more time. Finally, Zuko saw the light and decided to become a friend and mentor to Aang - helping him learn the ways of firebending.
