Top 10 Fictional TV Characters You Wish Were Your BFFs

Your friendship of pure fantasy awaits. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Fictional TV Characters You Wish Were Your BFFs.

For this list, we’re counting down some of the most endearing and magnetic personalities of television, all of whom would make fabulous best friends… if only, right?

#10: Titus Andromedon
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” (2015-)

When the shit hits the fan and you don’t know which way is up, this flamboyant character - and former prom king - will hit you with a dose of reality while making you laugh. You’ll never have to worry about Titus creeping on you, believe that - in fact, he’ll keep an eye out and help deflect all the BS headed your way. Sure, he’s prone to some major dramatic outbursts, but that in itself will provide for some of the entertainment while strengthening your overall camaraderie. Titus doesn’t have bad intentions; he’s just intent on attention, that’s all.

#9: Jane Villanueva
“Jane the Virgin” (2014-)

It’s not everyday that you meet a Venezuelan-American virgin that accidentally got knocked up via artificial insemination gone wrong, so this girl’s backstory would surely spark up some juicy discussions. With that being said, however, Jane is just a sweetie at heart; a girl that won’t embarrass you in public situations or take advantage of your friendship. Why? Because she’s kind, funny, family-oriented, and always puts people before herself. So, you can breathe a little bit when Ms. Villanueva steps into the room because she’s always a breath of fresh air.

#8: Abbi Abrams and Ilana Wexler
“Broad City” (2014-)

At the heart of any legitimate and lasting BFF relationship is unconditional love. With these two New York gals, you’ll get to experience the essence of living life to the fullest, which may or may not involve a room full of weed smoke and a few crazy-ass stories. But hey – you don’t have to LIVE with Abbi and Illana. You don’t even have to approve of their life-decisions. But, take note: their committed friendship speaks volumes about how today’s 20-somethings can live a more fruitful life, as nobody can live a “perfect life” or even a happy one without the love and support of someone special.

#7: Rory Gilmore
“Gilmore Girls” (2000-07)

If you’re looking for a book-smart badass that can walk the walk and talk the talk, this girl will undoubtedly make you a smarter human being and probably even keep you on the right path in life. As the only daughter of an equally spunky mother, Rory understands a thing or two about inner strength. Considering her Ivy League experience, she’s the kind of girl that makes your weekends a little bit more interesting. Rory naturally attracts attention with her looks, but you know she’s got plenty of brains as well.

#6: Cristina Yang
“Grey’s Anatomy” (2005-)

Whereas Rory Gilmore is fierce in her own ways, this chick has a bit more life experience and has the emotional scars to prove it. Her ambition alone will make you a little jealous, but Cristina Yang is not the catty kind of female that takes pleasure in BFF drama. She’s the girl that you down a couple bottles of wine with, as each of you convey the dos and don’ts of relationships. You know, she might not always be available when you need her, but that doesn’t mean that she’s not a loyal BFF. She’s just a busy one.

#5: Mindy Lahiri
“The Mindy Project” (2012-)

While some characters on our list embody ideals that may complement your individual quirks, this comedic OB/GYN has that OMG factor - a “she’s sooo relatable” vibe. And this is because Mindy Lahiri takes everything in stride. She’s well versed in the art of one-liners and keeping everything in perspective...not to mention that there’s probably no better friend to watch your favorite romcom with! Regardless of the setting, Mindy manages to maintain a strong sense of self, which is obviously important when bad vibes comes your way.

#4: Leslie Knope
“Parks and Recreation” (2009-15)

Okay, so there are plenty of women that consider their annoying snark to be legitimately hilarious, and then you have individuals like Leslie Knope, a Pawnee politician that will makeyou laugh out loud uncontrollably on a daily basis. And that’s perhaps the only downfall of having her as your BFF, because she will, in fact, embarrass you from time to time, butyou’ll be happy to roll along with the spontaneity. Leslie’s the ride or die BFF, right? You’ve got to commit to the unknown, and once you accept her friendship, there’s really no limit to the laughs.

#3: Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, Miranda Hobbes and Samantha Jones
“Sex and the City” (1998-2004)

With these Big Apple BFFs, the phrase is both a concept and a reality. In other words, if just one of these girls suggest that you quit your small-town job for a New York City upgrade, well, then you put in that 2-week notice, girl, and fly your butt to the city. Let’s say this - these women can’t be your social media or Skype BFFs – you’ve got to take part in the action along with them. You know you’ve thought about it, and some of you city girls probably found a little inspiration from Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha at one time in your life.

#2: Rachel Green, Monica Geller and Phoebe Buffay
“Friends” (1994-2004)

Oh, you know we didn’t forget about our favorite ladies from Central Perk, and speaking of perks, these girls make for wonderful BFFs in a variety of ways. For one, they’re all kind-hearted, hilarious, supportive women that always have each other’s backs. Perhaps the ultimate perk is that they’re not even familiar with the concept of social media. Given the surreal nature of our list, you’d essentially be hanging in a pre-Facebook universe with Rachel, Monica and Phoebe, so there’s zero chance that you’d annoy each other with questionable Facebook posts. It’s true. The perks of being their best friend forever.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Felix Dawkins
“Orphan Black” (2013-)

Veronica Mars
“Veronica Mars” (2004-07)

Lady Edith Crawley
“Downton Abbey” (2010-15)

Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz
“I Love Lucy” (1951-57)

Charles Boyle
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (2013-)

#1: Liz Lemon
“30 Rock” (2006-13)

She’s the head writer of an iconic, yet fictional, sketch comedy show, and at the actual 30 Rock of all places. Not only do a vast majority of women truly want to hang with Liz Lemon, most believe it’s a serious possibility given the parallels to the actual life of Tina Fey. Liz beholds all the BFF essentials – she’s hilarious, smart, and has a quirky sex appeal that she knows how to utilize. Of course, she’s successful as well, and you wouldn’t mind brainstorming with her and seeing your ideas come to life on TV. It’s a fantasy, but still all too real.
