Top 10 Moments That Made Us Love Margot Robbie

Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Moments That Made Us Love Margot Robbie.

For this list, we’ll be looking at the best appearances, performances, interviews, and general moments that cemented this Aussie actress as one of the most lovable, relatable celebs in showbiz.

When did you fall in love with Margot Robbie? Let us know in the comments below.

#10: Pure Puppy Joy

During the epic “Barbie” press tour of summer 2023, Margot Robbie and her Ken co-star Ryan Gosling had the chance to do one of BuzzFeed’s notoriously cute and chaotic puppy interviews. We can always expect a fun video with our favorite celebs, but Robbie’s level of excitement is too adorable. She’s incredibly sweet with the perky pups and even shares some kisses because how can you not? Some interviewees struggle to multitask when surrounded by this level of cuteness but Robbie handles the chaos well and manages to answer questions. We also learned she’s a big fan of the popular comedy “Jury Duty” and loves talking about Gosling’s “Young Hercules” days. We could watch this video on repeat for hours…maybe we already have.

#9: Powering Through an Intense “Hot Ones” Interview

When it comes to entertaining celebrity interviews, First We Feast’s “Hot Ones” never misses. Downing hot wings may not seem that difficult, but as the spice level increases, not every guest makes it to the last dab. Margot Robbie admitted she wasn’t the best at handling the heat but was totally game for the challenge. Although she remained her kind, polite self the whole time, the actress was clearly struggling to get through all 10 wings. But being a competitive person, there was no way she was about to bow out. Many tears and expletives later, Robbie conquered the challenge, with her “Birds of Prey” castmates joining her on wing 10. We knew Robbie was an adventurous one. Consider us thoroughly impressed.

#8: Getting Excited Over Her Favorite Bands

One of the countless things we absolutely love about Margot Robbie is that she’s always subverting expectations. Many people wouldn’t think she’d be a fan of heavy metal music, but she loves to rock out to bands like Slipknot, Metallica, and Bullet for My Valentine. She even defended her fondness of the genre on “The Graham Norton Show." While on BBC Radio 1’s morning show, Robbie watched as Bullet for My Valentine dedicated a song to her. She was beyond ecstatic and it certainly got her heart racing. And as if it couldn’t get better, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor sent her a video filled with praise and gratitude. Her surprised reaction is so endearing that we can’t help but feel excited for her.

#7: Dedication to Her Roles

Margot Robbie’s big break came in 2013 when she played Naomi in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” a part she landed after an improvised face slap to Leonardo DiCaprio. Since then, she has established herself as one of the industry’s most captivating, versatile actresses. She has the ability to embody every type of character, including a queen, a figure skater, a doll, and much more. Robbie seemingly loves a transformation, and the more challenging the better. She’s acquired several skills, and just for DC’s Harley Quinn, she learned how to hold her breath for minutes, roller skating, gymnastics, and stunt training. It’s undeniable that she’s got range for days and we can’t wait to see what she does next.

#6: Being a Potterhead

By her own admission, Margot Robbie has been a diehard Harry Potter fanatic since childhood and we’ve seen the throwback pics to prove it. Like many Potterheads, she wanted glasses like the Chosen One, so she twisted the truth to get an optometrist to believe she needed a pair of them. Now that’s devotion. The Potterverse continues to be a strong presence in Robbie’s life. Believe it or not, her husband Tom Ackerley was an extra in the first three “Harry Potter” movies. And for her bachelorette party, her lovely pals hired a Potter-inspired dancer. And while she initially wasn’t thrilled with Pottermore’s Sorting Hat results, Robbie’s warming up to her Hufflepuff status.

#5: Advocating for Women in the Industry

Margot Robbie isn’t shy when it comes to expressing her frustration with certain aspects of the entertainment industry, especially as it pertains to women’s rights. She has vocalized her support for things like inclusivity and the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Creatively speaking, Robbie also wants to squash the misconception that women don’t like watching, or acting in, action movies. When she added producing to her resume in 2014, the ambitious multihyphenate used her new position to uplift female voices in the business. And when she was asked questions about married life, instead of, you know, her amazing career accomplishments, Robbie didn’t hesitate to shut it down, saying, “Being married is not my achievement”. Mic. Dropped.

#4: Becoming Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn made her small screen debut in “Batman: The Animated Series” in the 1990s and became so popular that she made her way into comics and video games. However, we didn’t get a live-action Harley until Margot Robbie was cast in 2016’s “Suicide Squad.” Her performance as the Joker’s psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum to his jester-themed sidekick/girlfriend earned the approval and praise from Harley Quinn co-creator Paul Dini. She evolved over two additional films sans Joker, including “Birds of Prey,” co-produced under Robbie’s LuckyChap. Her future in the DC Universe is unclear as of 2023, but we hope to see more of her deliciously wild Harley Quinn.

#3: Running Her Own Production Company

After a few years in the industry, Margot Robbie wanted to see more opportunities for female creatives in front of and behind the camera. In 2014, she founded LuckyChap Entertainment with her now-husband Tom Ackerley, and friends Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr. The mission with their company was to produce female-focused narratives and projects that defy expectations. LuckyChap gained recognition after the success of “I, Tonya” in 2017, a dark comedy that earned Robbie a Best Actress Oscar nomination. They’d go on to release more women-led projects including “Promising Young Woman,” “Birds of Prey,” Hulu’s “Dollface,” “Barbie,” and Netflix’s “Maid.” Robbie’s resilience and commitment to female representation are beyond admirable. Plus, she’s one badass businesswoman. And we love to see it.

#2: Bringing Barbie to Life on the Big Screen

A Barbie film adaptation was in the works for years, going through a number of studios, writers, directors, and lead actresses. But ultimately, no solid plans to develop the project were ever realized. Enter Margot Robbie, the determined actress-producer ready to get Barbie from script to screen with her LuckyChap Entertainment. She was very hands-on in all areas of development, from meetings with Mattel and Warner Bros execs to getting Greta Gerwig on board to co-write and direct. She later stepped into the role of the titular doll herself, on the condition that the film have a multitude of diverse Barbies. She was also quite persistent in casting Ryan Gosling as the quintessential Ken. Needless to say, Barbie Robbie is everything.

#1: Slaying the “Barbie” Press Tour

After pouring her blood, sweat, and tears into getting the “Barbie” movie into production and starring as the lead character, it was time for Margot Robbie to promote the project. But we were not prepared for her absolutely amazing fashion we got throughout the press tour. Styled by Andrew Mukamal, the actress/producer sported an array of Barbie-inspired custom designer duds, from the Hervé Léger black-and-white striped dress to Moschino skirt suits. Robbie often channeled specific Barbies like Totally Hair, Earring Magic, and Solo in the Spotlight. And the ‘80s-era Versace Day-to-Night Barbie double ensemble was definitely a showstopper. We’ve never seen “method dressing” like this and it will go down in film and fashion history.
