Top 10 Power Rangers Villains

Trying to take over the universe is hard enough without a group of teens with attitude ruining your plans; but that won’t stop these morphenomenal baddies from bringing the fight. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down the Top 10 Power Rangers Villains.

For this list, we’ll be looking at some of the most memorable wrongdoers ever to go toe-to-toe with our multi-colored heroes over the last 23 years; also, we’re only looking at the villains from the actual show, so movie villains like Ivan Ooze are ruled out.

#10: Rita Repulsa
“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" (1993-96)

Being locked in a space dumpster for 10,000 years can give anyone a headache, and no one knows that better than Rita Repulsa. When she isn’t complaining about her constant migraines, she’s seen sending an endless amount of monsters and putty patrollers to combat the original Power Rangers. She also has a wide array of wicked spells and tricks up her sleeve, including her own green ranger! Even when she gets kicked to the curb in Season 2, she won’t stop plotting until she comes out on top.

#9: Diabolico
“Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue” (2000)

You should never make deals with demonic beings, but one demon you definitely shouldn’t deal with is Diabolico. If you try to weasel out of one of his agreements, he’ll give you a deadly cobra tattoo as payback. Not only that, but he’s deviously powerful at combat and able to walk right through any megazord in his way. However, he is a loyal warrior who cares about his fellow generals; so if you mess with them, no matter what side you’re on, you WILL regret it.

#8: Astronema
“Power Rangers in Space” (1998)

This devious diva knows how to intimidate. Handpicked by big boss Dark Specter of the United Alliance of Evil to lead an oncoming invasion with her fellow ranger baddies to takeover the universe. Astronema is a deadly foe in combat when she wields her powerful wrath staff. But when she finds out that the red ranger is her brother, she starts to question where her true place is. Nothing a few cybernetic implants can’t fix to turn her back into a ruthless, ranger-fighting Princess of Darkness.

#7: Emperor Gruumm
“Power Rangers S.P.D” (2005)

In the not-too-distant future, the universe had better beware because Emperor Gruumm and the Troobian Empire are on their way. This creepy commander comes with an army of Krybots and rogue alien criminals. With these tools, he’s conquered countless galaxies and planets; and now earth is his next target. Gruumm won’t stop until he’s conquered our world, destroyed the S.P.D rangers, and defeated his archenemy, the Shadow Ranger. Why? Because years ago, the Shadow Ranger cut off one of his horns. Wow, this guy holds a grudge when it comes to his headwear.

#6: Venjix
“Power Rangers RPM” (2009)

What would HAL from “2001: A Space Odyssey” be like as a Power Ranger villain? Meet Venjix: a sentient computer virus accidentally released on the world’s computers; effectively infecting more than half of the internet. Capable of building armies of robot soldiers, Venjix already rules over the earth. Now he just wants to keep his rule by wiping out the last of humanity in the domed city of Corinth. However, a seemingly perfect virus is no match for thePower Rangers …or is he? (Show the end clip from Danger and Destiny Part 2)

#5: Trakeena
“Power Rangers Lost Galaxy” (1999)

Evil has never been this beautiful… or this deadly. Being the daughter of the big boss of the bugs, Trakeena spends the first few episodes on the sidelines admiring her beauty. But when daddy Scorpius wants her to become a bug like him, she runs away to train to become a fearsome fighter without having to give up her pretty face. But when the rangers destroy Scorpius, she’s put in charge as queen of the hive, and will do anything to avenge her father… even going as far as turning her own troops into an horde of suicide bombers. Can you imagine a kids show trying to get away with that in the post 9/11 World today?

#4: Ransik
“Power Rangers Time Force” (2001)

Just looking at this guy is enough to send shivers down your spine. But if Ransik’s intimidating looks weren’t enough, how about the fact that he’s a master strategist who can pull weapons out of his body; or how he’s able to kill the original Red Time Force Ranger with one blow? However, like most realvillains, Ransik wasn’t born evil. He was only a mutant, shunned by a future that doesn’t sit well with “imperfection.” If he can’t rule a future that won’t accept him, he’ll just rule a past that can’t defy him …yet.

#3: Psycho Rangers
“Power Rangers in Space” (1998)

How do you combat against a team of rangers? With your OWN team of rangers, of course! The Psycho Rangers are appropriately named because these multicolored killing machines are psycho fast, psycho powerful, psycho smart, and psycho obsessed with defeating their colored counterparts. What’s even more terrifying is that the Psychos can take human form, making them the perfect ranger hunting machines. Even when they’re destroyed the first time, they’ll find a way to rise from the grave even deadlier and more eager to pulverize their do-gooder counterparts.

#2: Mesagog
“Power Rangers Dino Thunder” (2004)

Scientist and stepfather, Anton Mercer, was once a partner of Doctor Tommy Oliver – the original green ranger - on a project involving Dinosaur DNA and technology. Mercer thought he had made a scientific breakthrough, but what he made was a dino-sized mess case as he accidentally turns himself into the monstrous Mesagog; gifted with a psychic ability that lets him torture those who fail him or get in his way. A classic Jekyll-Hyde relationship; Mercer wants what’s best for his son, while Mesagog wants nothing less than to bring the earth back to the era of the dinosaurs.

Before we unveil our number one baddie, here are a few honorable mentions.

Imperious
“Power Rangers Mystic Force” (2006)

Master Org
“Power Rangers Wild Force” (2002)

Dai Shi
“Power Rangers Jungle Fury” (2008)

Goldar
“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (1993-96)

Koragg
“Power Rangers Mystic Force” (2006)

#1: Lord Zedd
“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" (1993-96)

Taking the number one spot is the self-proclaimed “Prince of Darkness,” Lord Zedd. After his chilling introduction, Zedd wastes no time taking over the palace, kicking Rita to the curb, and turning his attention to the Power Rangers. Getting past his intimidating design and sinister voice, Zedd does well to impress with his Z-staff and gigantic Serpentera zord, which can destroy whole planets. Fans complained about how toned-down he got after marrying Rita Repulsa, but he’s still a powerful force to struggle with, especially if you have to fight him one-on-one.
