For this list, we’re looking at the matches that were being booked back stage which unfortunately never came to fruition.
Austin had been a little frustrated with the powers that be and this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. When he was told he would do the job to the next big thing, Brock Lesnar, he was less than impressed. Austin straight up refused to be put down, stating it would be better saved the match for a more fitting venue where the weight of Lesnar’s victory would be monumental. And as a response, the WWE showed him the door. He’d eventually make a return but the match would never happen…
It doesn’t get much bigger than this. This one had been building for about 8 years, starting with Shaq’s gig as the guest host of raw back in 2009 – fast forward several years and Shaquille was a mystery entrant in the Andre the Giant Battle Royale where he faced off with Show once again in what teased a singles contest the following year. But that never happened. Though not even show himself apparently knew why the match was called off, chances are it was to do with money. According to Shaq it was no fault of his own but rather shoddy management on WWE’s side.
Yup, two of the biggest names in professional wrestling could’ve torn the house down. It seems that WWE was hoping they could make this one happen, but the egos of two mega-stars made it a wee bit too risky. Hogan had apparently expressed interest in the match, but Austin was having none of it, believing the match just wouldn’t live up to the hype and Hogan wouldn’t be willing to take the L.
With Dean’s history of violence in indy companies like CZW, it seemed a natural fit that he should take on a legend of an equally bloody past. Unfortunately, it just never came to be because Foley was not medically cleared to take on the lunatic after years of batterings. Which is a bloody shame because its seems like a no-brainer… Dean would have been elevated to the top instantly, and we’d get some pay off for that guerrilla style promo between the two stars…
That’s right the King of Kings against the Baddest Man on the Planet. Tyson had seen conflict with DX in the past, and that was set to brew again for Wrestlemania 17 where he would face the former stable leader. It’s said that it may well have been a boxing contest, which lets admit would probably have burned out the crowd, so maybe its not such a bad thing that this one didn’t happen.
Alas, the estimated price of the bout was far too absurd to actually go through with, and Trips faced off against the Undertaker instead.

#5: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Brock Lesnar
#4: Big Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal
According to Shaq it was no fault of his own but rather shoddy management on WWE’s side.
#3: Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Hulk Hogan
Yup, two of the biggest names in professional wrestling could’ve torn the house down. #2: Dean Ambrose vs. Mick Foley
#1: Triple H vs. Mike Tyson
That’s right the King of Kings against the Baddest Man on the Planet. Tyson had seen conflict with DX in the past, and that was set to brew again for Wrestlemania 17 where he would face the former stable leader.
