#5: She’s A Model
It’s incredible to think of how much Steinfeld has accomplished given that she’s still so young. For instance, did you know that she’s been modeling since 2011? That’s right! The Los Angeles native was selected as the new face of Miu Miu, an Italian clothing brand. She was just 14 years old at the time. Since then she has appeared in numerous publications and has even modeled for companies such as Guess and Gap. With burgeoning film and music careers under her belt, we wouldn’t be surprised to see her face pop up in even more advertisements in the future!
#4: She Was Homeschooled
School is hard enough without the added distraction of being a Hollywood actress. As such, Steinfeld was home schooled from 2008 until she graduated high school in 2015. The actress was simply too busy shooting films, television shows and music videos to attend a normal school. Sadly, this is not the only reason why Steinfeld was home schooled. According to her, she was the victim of regular bullying at the hands of her fellow students. Don’t worry; those same kids are probably kicking themselves now for messing up their chance to be friends with a movie star.
#3: She Wants to Direct
Actress, model, singer…Steinfeld does it all. But apparently it still isn’t enough! On more than one occasion she has expressed an interest in one day directing her own film. The multitalented star believes that there aren’t enough female directors working in Hollywood and hopes that one day she can help bolster their ranks. Seeing as how Steinfeld has already worked with some pretty awesome directors, we like to imagine she’s picked up on a few tricks of the trade. Based on her solid filmography, strong work ethic and seemingly endless amount of talent, a Hailee Steinfeld directed film sounds like a great idea!
#2: She Helped Design Her Oscar Dress
For her performance in the 2010 film “True Grit” Hailee Steinfeld was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. For most teens, simply attending the Oscars would be the highlight of their young lives. For Steinfeld however, it was yet another opportunity for her to show the world that she is anything BUT the average kid. How did she accomplish this? By choosing to design the dress she wore to the event herself alongside Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman. That’s right. At just 14 years of age Steinfeld was already proving herself to be uniquely multi-talented.
#1: She Had Lots of Competition For “True Grit”
At the tender age of 13, Hailee Steinfeld audition for the female lead in the newest Coen brothers film, a western called “True Grit”. The young actress had previously appeared in a number of short films, but nothing major. As such, she had her work cut out. The role in question was that of Mattie Ross, a 14 year old who enlists the help of a drunken lawman after her father is murdered. Of the 15,000 young women who auditioned for the part Steinfeld was ultimately chosen. A critical and commercial success, it’s clear the directors made the right choice.
