Located in the Lesser Antilles, Anguilla is one of the Leeward Islands. Considered a British overseas territory, it is found 150 miles east of Puerto Rico and nine miles north of St. Maarten. The country’s capital is The Valley, which is also its centre of business and government.
Friendly Population
Anguilla’s official language is English, and this is spoken by the majority of the island’s friendly and hospitable inhabitants.
Geography and Landscape
Anguilla is comprised of one main island, in addition to a number of smaller ones. The country’s population of thirteen and a half thousand lives primarily on the main island, which measures 16 miles long by just over three miles wide. The island itself is flat, dry, and relatively barren, and its terrain consists mainly of beaches and dunes.
Beach-friendly Climate
While the country is at risk of hurricanes, the tropical temperatures in Anguilla tend to be consistently hot year-round. This allows visitors and locals to use the country’s many beaches throughout the year. And these beaches are considered some of the best in the Caribbean.
