An Island State


Located in the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii is the newest of the United States. Also the only state comprised entirely of islands, Hawaii was annexed by the U.S. in 1959. Approximately 1.3 million people call Hawaii home. The state’s capital and largest city is Honolulu, which is found on the island of Oahu.

A Surfer's Paradise


Hawaii is a very popular destination for tourists because of its unparalleled natural beauty, and perfect tropical weather. A haven for surfers, some of the world’s best waves happen off the shores of this island state.

Tropical Climate


Representative of tropical climates, temperatures in Hawaii are warm-to-hot year-round. The climate can be divided into two seasons. The wet season occurs from October to April, while drier times are between May and October.

Volcanic Activity


The Hawaiian Islands were formed by volcanic activity, and therefore the state features a number of volcanoes. All of the active volcanoes can be found on Hawaii’s Big Island, in the southern section.

Rich History and Culture


Hawaiian culture is largely inspired by Polynesian influences. Customary traditions and ceremonies can often be seen throughout the islands, displaying the state’s rich history and culture.
