Top 10 Worst Video Games Of 2017

By alexcrillymckean,

There were many things back in 2017 that made us cry out in despair, and the gaming scene was no different. While there were indeed some epic releases that raised the bar of the medium, many abominations still managed to sneak their way in and make us question what the developers were thinking!

#10: “Perception” (2017)

Playing as a blind woman who has some manner of sonar that lets her “see” like a bat was a neat idea, but quickly became annoyingly repetitive.

#9: “Double Dragon IV” (2017)

If the gameplay itself is lacking, then no amount of nostalgia and retro-style graphics will manage to keep your product from coming across as cheap and uninspired.

#8: “Reservoir Dogs: Bloody Days” (2017)

Top-down shooters have become a saturated genre, and while this game tries to separate itself by including a time-manipulation mechanic, it’s implemented too poorly to make much of a difference. This is the furthest thing from Tarantino-esque.

#7: “DYING: Reborn” (2017)

Out of all the VR games that were released last year, this supposed horror experience was by far the most lacklustre. No challenge and no scares all result in zero immersion whatsoever.

#6: “Vaccine” (2017)

The original Resident Evil had many great things going for it. The controls were not one of them. As a result, hunting through a derelict house, shooting infected monsters and picking up items comes across as a rather dull experience.

#5: “Troll and I” (2017)

Whether you play alone or force a friend to join you for the ride, your time with this particular troll won’t be a pleasant one. The sub-par animation, awful controls and poor attempt at replicating the emotional connection found in The Last Guardian doesn’t do this game any favors.

#4: “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle” (2017)

The Megazord battles are quicktime events, the combat is broken to the point of being nauseating, and you don’t even have the option to play online with your friends!

#3: “Drive Girls” (2017)

Even a wacky concept that involves cute anime girls who can transform into vehicles can’t save this game from terrible handling and a painful five hour campaign.

#2: “Vroom in the Night Sky” (2017)

This just might be the queen of horrible Japanese video game imports. Not only is the translation laughably bad, but lazy controls ensure that playing through this particular night sky is a complete and utter chore.

#1: “Life of Black Tiger” (2017)

How did this thing get published? Its graphics are worse than a PS2 game, the narrative is thinner than paper, and every mission is just as boring as the last. We hope this tiger goes extinct.
