Netflix has not only become the definitive platform for the release of new television series and movies, but has slowly started to show an interest in anime. Not only are they now openly investing time and resources into original titles, but have begun to snatch up some of the best series out there in order to broadcast them to a whole new audience.
Which ones should you be watching? Everything but Neo Yokio. However, if we had to narrow it down, these ten are not to be missed!
#10: âKuromukuroâ (2016-)
Taking two of anime’s biggest tropes and smashing them together, this show sees a samurai awaken in modern day Japan…and given his own mecha in order to fight aliens. It might sound crazy, but it doesn’t stop it from being mindlessly entertaining.
#9: âBlame!â (2017)
Fans of Dark City and The Matrix might find themselves intrigued by this one, which sees humanity launch a desperate final assault before they are quashed by a sentient program that has all but engulfed the world.
#8: âMagi: Adventures of Sinbadâ (2016)
If you have been looking for an excuse to jump into this franchise, then what better way to start than by checking out the origins of the series’ most hilariously awesome character?
#7: âAjin: Demi-Humanâ (2016)
Human depravity, survival of the fittest, immortality, all these things culminate in a series that knows how to ramp up the tension with every episode.
#6: âFate/Apocryphaâ (2017)
A spin-off of the long-running franchise requires no prior viewing experience, instead allowing audiences to bask in the insanity that comes from seeing history’s greatest heroes and villains clash in a free for all of swords and sorcery!
#5: âGANTZ: Oâ (2016)
Were you a fan of the original Gantz? Do you miss its blood, brutality and emphasis on giant alien monsters? Then this is sure to scratch that particular itch.
#4: âKakeguruiâ (2017)
Gambling has never so enticing. In a school where learning how to bet efficiently determines your literal worth, a new student arrives to shake things up. She may be as a crazy as can be, but you’ll learn to love her all the same.
#3: âKnights of Sidoniaâ (2014-)
Following the destruction of Earth at the hands of some of anime’s most monstrous and disgusting aliens, the remnants of mankind flee to the stars. Their only hope of survival comes in the form of child pilots armed with spear-wielding mecha, but even that not me be enough to stop humanity from losing its way as their desperation and isolation starts to change them for the worse.
#2: âLittle Witch Academiaâ (2017-)
Stunning, heartfelt and whimsical, this series easily manages to separate itself from anything to do with Harry Potter, choosing instead to focus on the dreams and determination of wannabe witch Akko. Prepare for visual splendours and more feels than you’ll know what to do with!
#1: âThe Seven Deadly Sinsâ (2014-)
If you’re in dire need of being whisked away to a fantasy world layered with all the action and adventure you could ask for, then this shonen should fulfil your ever desire. With a cast of knights packed with just as much power as personality, this series was made to be binge-watched!
