On February 15, 2018, just one day after Valentine’s, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announced via the Associated Press that they were separating. The two began dating in 2011 while working on the film, Wanderlust, and were engaged within the next year, eventually tying the knot on August 5, 2015. Aniston is of course best known for her iconic turn as Rachel Green on Friends while Justin Theroux played Kevin Garvey on HBO’s The Leftovers.

2. They Made a Public Statement
According to their AP statement, Aniston and Theroux decided to break this news publicly âin an effort to reduce any further speculation” and “to convey the truth directly.” Although they didn’t officially announced their separation until now, the decision “was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year.â
1. They’re Staying Friends
As devastating as this news is, we can at least take solace in knowing that Aniston and Theroux “are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.â They described themselves as “two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.â
