Ya Done F**ked It Up!
There are certainly no end of video game reviewers out there, some of whom have managed to reach internet stardom with their brutally honest critiques of the gaming industry and its contents. Names like Jim Sterling, the Escapist’s Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw and John “TotalBiscuit” Bain immediately spring to mind, but for now we’ll be focusing on the critic whose opinions often come with addition of unbridled rage.
Straight out of the heart of Texas, Joe and his partner in crime OtherJoe take on the best and worst that gaming has to offer. Their reviews not only elaborate the pros and cons of each title, but often come equipped with a variety of sketches, skits and (if the game is bad enough) bouts of temporary insanity. But which moments truly sent Joe over the edge, and by proxy, made us laugh the most?
#3: FOUR HOURS?!?
When you pay a decent sum towards a new game, you at least expect to get your money’s worth. As such, you really can’t blame Joe for losing his rag every time he discovers a game can easily be beaten in only a few hours. This has since become one of the show’s best gags, complete with hilarious slow mo!
#2: Godzilla Is Approaching The Generator/He’s A Man, Not A God!
We couldn’t decide between these two, as they’re both examples of Joe slowly losing his mind through attrition. In 2014’s Godzilla, he pretty much snapped after the narrator kept repeating the phrase “Godzilla is approaching the generator, the generator is losing power.” This was only matched when he found himself encountering an enemy in the atrocious video game adaptation of Rambo, one who seemed to love yelling the phrase “Come on comrades, he’s a man, not a god!” Both lines of dialogues have since mentally scarred Joe, much to our enjoyment.
#1: Ride to Hell
Many have come close, but none have quite managed to match the pure, unaltered hatred that Joe has for this game. From its terrible controls, awful narrative and quite possible the most insulting use of sex scenes ever used in the medium, it all proves too much for Joe, leading him to condemn it like he were performing an exorcism. By all means, it’s one of the worst games of all time…but we’re kind of hoping for a sequel just so we can see Joe tear it to pieces in another review.
