Another Top 10 Celebrities Who Ruined Their Careers on Live TV

Not new to absurd controversies, Coleen Nolan seems to have a strange talent for saying the wrong thing at the right time. From her exceedingly unfathomable comments comparing the support of gay rights to the support of ISIS, to her general dramatics on “Celebrity Big Brother”, she found her archenemy in another contentious CBB contestant: Kim Woodburn. Their row infamously spilled over onto Nolan’s panel show “Loose Women”, which led Woodburn to leave the studio and attracted over 3,000 complaints from viewers – accusing Coleen of bullying. Of course, she swiftly ‘took a break’ from the show.

Heading back to the jungle, and a home-buying expert who might’ve become the loveable underdog on “I’m a Celeb”… But, no. Instead, “Homes Under the Hammer” presenter Martin Roberts made headlines as an apparent trouble stirrer, and eventually finished sixth. Although that was one place above Larry Lamb, the actor who Roberts has since accused of bullying. Reality TV hasn’t completely derailed the careers of either celebs, but it clearly didn’t show them in their best light.

This politician turned TV personality turned politician (again) has had his fair share of career-tarnishing moments. His most embarrassing in terms of TV endeavours was probably his failed TV show “Shafted”, which only lasted four episodes and is widely considered among the worst British shows of the 2000s. And yet, he entered into the 2008 edition of “I’m a Celebrity” presumably with high hopes. Alas, Kilroy-Silk was the first of that year’s batch to be given the boot. In his short stint he faced multiple Bushtucker Trials, including a live ‘Jungle Gym’, but what little profile he did have seems to have evaporated since then. And it doesn’t appear that many people miss him.

He’s an actor, a dancer and a singer, but Partridge’s recognition is in large part due to his role as Christian Clarke on “EastEnders”, starting in 2008. He took part in “Celebrity Big Brother” for the seventeenth series of the show, where he startedas one of the most popular contestants before revealing his true colours as, well, a bit of a baddie. His popularity has just never matched the good ol’ days of Albert Square since his time in the house. Though, in fairness he keeps busy, appearing in 2018’s “Celebrity Masterchef”.

He actually finished third in his first BB outing but faired less successfully in his second. As for afterwards, he has somewhat disappeared. Or at least he hasn’t been in anything anybody’s watched. He occasionally takes to Twitter to pass judgment on other “Strictly” and “Celeb BB” contestants, but other than that – zero.

Farrah Abraham’s career started on reality TV, when she was selected to appear on MTV’s “16 and Pregnant”. And she has been steadily building a CV stacked with similar stuff ever since, finding reality TV work on both sides of the pond. So, in many ways, the format made her. But, Britain’s “Celebrity Big Brother” appears to have been a bridge too far even for Farrah. She appeared on the show in 2015, only to become the fifth housemate evicted. But only then did controversy truly strike, when she was involved in a “Bit on the Side” on-air fracas, for which she reportedly received a police caution.

Woodburn rose to fame after becoming the co-presenter of “How Clean is Your House?” on Channel 4. After that show’s end, she took part in “I’m a Celebrity”, which only served to heighten her profile. But then came “Big Brother”, for which she was a housemate in the show’s nineteenth series. In the house she became a verydivisive character – to put it mildly – often clashing with apparently everyoneelse and, one time, even forcing security to step in! As we’ve seen earlier, she has also been the victim of reality TV troubles, but overall her various outings have led to a damaged reputation.

The Conservative MP for Mid Bedfordshire wasn’t new to controversies even before her appearance on national television as a reality TV star, what with her opposition of same-sex marriage and harsh criticism of then Prime Minister David Cameron. But when she decided to take part in “I’m a Celeb” without informing the party whip, she was swiftly handed a suspension. But, was the drama worth it? Did Nadine’s public profile rise through the roof? Well, no. Her time in the show was cut embarrassingly short when she became the first contestant to be voted off.

Her popularity began on the BBC’s “Over the Rainbow” and then as a mainstay on “Hollyoaks”… until she was eventually fired for turning up to set “unfit for work”. Stephanie Davis then eventually showed up on “Celebrity Big Brother”, trying to prove how likeable and nice she was. But, that plan backfired when she was given two warnings for aggressive behaviour, and proceeded to cheat on her then-boyfriend by beginning a televised relationship with housemate, Jeremy McConnell. Having ultimately made headlines for all the wrong reasons, Stephanie’s triumphant return to acting has yet to materialise.

Born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., Perez takes his stage name from another reality TV celebrity (Paris Hilton, obviously), and began his career by running a popular celebrity gossip blog. But the attention truly switched to him in 2015, when he graced the “Big Brother” house. Paraded at the time as perhaps the show’s most outrageous contestant ever, he came under fire for offensive remarks about AIDs, aggressive threats made to Calum Best, and a lengthy and heated feud with Katie Hopkins. His TV career since then? He won season 11 of “Worst Cooks in America”, but that’s about it.
