Top 10 Celebs That Are Famous for No Reason
#10: Danielle Bregoli
Social media has really brought us some… interesting people. Danielle Bregoli rose to fame for being one of those “troubled teens” on “Dr. Phil.” Her insult-to-enunciation catchphrase was all it took to make her a household name. Some work their entire lives to be known, others are just launched into fame via nonsense. Bregoli was sent to the legendary “ranch” by Dr. Phil, to no effect. She has since become Bhad Bhabie, a rapper/songwriter for fans of unnecessary letter H usage, angry teen girl hip hop, and cultural appropriation. Though she does have some followers, they likely do not outnumber her many critics.
#9: Caroline Calloway
This is an odd age we live in, as it really doesn’t take much to get recognized. Caroline Calloway is known for her Instagram pics and novel-sized captions. So… doing what millions of people do every day? Actually, though Calloway did see her 15 minutes of fame in the 2010s, it was revealed that her college roommate, Natalie Beach, was ghostwriting quite a few of her detailed captions. After a lengthy mess of canceled workshops, expository articles by skeptical journalists, a failed OnlyFans page featuring lies about partnerships with “Playboy,” essential oil sales, and more, Calloway has faded into obscurity.
#8: Brooklyn Beckham
Brooklyn Beckham has been called a “nepotism baby.” He is the son of power couple David and Victoria Beckham. Brooklyn’s timeline reads like a child trying to follow in his famous parents’ footsteps. He played soccer for Arsenal F.C. Academy until he was denied a scholarship and subsequently modeled for a few years in the mid-2010s. He then took up model photography and was hired to photograph a Burberry campaign. His employment and work were met with much criticism, as his photographs were ridiculed and his position referred to as “sheer nepotism” by actual professional photographers. He also published an awful photography book. In 2021, Beckham tried to become a professional chef, sans education. Rich kid of all trades, master of none.
#7: Chase Hudson
You know when you were a kid and you were lip-syncing into a hairbrush in your bedroom? People now film that, post it online and make their pseudo-careers that way. Chase Hudson, also known as Huddy or Lil Huddy, rose to internet fame by doing just that. He then co-founded “Hype House,” a TikTok collaboration in which a number of internet personalities would create and post videos. After all this, he started to make music that likely pleases the younger, auto-tune-heavy generation. It’s debatable whether this music would actually have been produced if Hudson hadn’t been “internet famous” prior. There are a lot of these questionable fame statuses online: Hudson is almost tied with Bryce Hall for this pick.
#6: Kevin Federline
In 2004, then back-up dancer Kevin Federline married Britney Spears after just 3 months of dating. We’ve been intermittently hearing from him ever since, whether we like it or not. Shortly before his predictable divorce from Spears, Federline released some music. It was generally ill-received. He then went on to appear in a few reality shows, guest spots in a couple of tv shows, and bit parts in b-movies. Most famously, he won full custody of the two children he had with Spears. Federline had two children with his current wife and has bowed out of the mild spotlight to be a dad.
#5: Charli & Dixie D’Amelio
In another case of presumed “right place, right time”, Charli D’Amelio gained fame on TikTok for her lip-sync and dancing videos: something that many others do, yet remain unnoticed. She was at one time the most followed creator on the platform. Due to her nearly 150 million followers, D’Amelio has basically become a millionaire through product sponsorships and offers. Some may argue that TikTok fame is kind of a mystery. You do a dance, point a camera at it and suddenly you have millions of followers and a fulltime job?! Charli’s sister Dixie has become famous by proxy, as she rode her sister’s coattails into the internet spotlight. She is attempting to start a music career.
#4: Farrah Abraham
Some people will get their mild 15 minutes of fame then go on trying desperately to hold onto it in any way possible. Abraham was first seen on a 2009 episode of MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” and later in the spin-off series, “Teen Mom.” Then there was a pasta sauce line, a poorly received music album, and a book. In 2014, Abraham appeared on “Couples Therapy,” but ended up doing so alone, as the man slated to appear with her claimed to have been a hired actor. In 2013, Abraham admittedly hired adult entertainment star James Deen to film a sex tape with her, which she herself “leaked.” She occasionally still makes a tabloid headline, yet for negative reasons such as poor parenting decisions.
#3: Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton is known as a “media personality.” That’s what we used to call inexplicably famous people before the internet, kids. The great grand-daughter of Conrad Hilton, who founded the popular Hilton Hotel chain, Paris is a trust-fund baby. She rose to fame in the 1990s, for… being around in New York City. Her resumé reads like that of a few others on this list: modeling, reality TV, leaked sex tape, a book, a few low-rated movies, fashion design, DJing, and unsolicited music videos. Though she has done a lot, this is a classic case of money-buying fame.
#2: Jake Paul
We’ve heard way too much about his brother, so let’s have a look at Jake Paul. This is another case of rising to fame for being generally obnoxious. In 2013, Jake Paul found a huge following on the now-defunct “Vine,” an internet platform featuring 6-second videos. Paul was known for his pranks above anything else, as well as hip-hop music. He continues to release music and has also recently become a professional boxer. Though he has seemed to find some semblance of a niche in boxing, Jake Paul was the subject of a multitude of controversies, including explicit content, scam websites, complaints due to public disturbance, lawsuits, participation in a riot, an FBI raid of his home, and so on. K-O indeed.
#1: Kim Kardashian
You knew this one was coming. Though the same could be said for each of her family members, we’ve given Kim the top spot as she was the first Kardashian we became familiar with, yet not the last. Kim K was born into wealth, as her father was Robert Kardashian, a high-profile attorney who represented O.J. Simpson in the infamous 1990s trial. She rose to fame for being friends with another name on our list, Paris Hilton, as well as a 2007 leaked sex tape with her ex-boyfriend Ray J. Similar to Hilton, there were then reality TV, b-movies, minor guest spots, cosmetics, and a number of product endorsements. Sure, she’s done some things, but can anyone truly explain why she’s famous?
