Top 10 Chicken Shop Date Moments That Went Viral
#10: Calm & Chill
In 2019, one of the UK’s biggest social media celebrities, KSI, went on “Chicken Shop Date.” Technically, this was the second time he faced off with Dimoldenberg, as their first date was lost due to some technical issues. During the second go, Dimoldenberg asked KSI whether her thought people harboured misconceptions about him and he responded that people often expect his personality will be rowdier than it actually is. At that point, Dimoldenberg snuck in a clip taken a minute before of KSI laughing hysterically, then throwing a water bottle that smacked against a microphone. Beautiful. The rest of the date didn’t disappoint either.
#9: The Real Date
Upon first watch, this seemed like a standard episode. It hit all the beats, with Dimoldenberg being her best awkward self and Aitch matching her energy perfectly. However, buzz really ramped up when the two went on a few real dates together. Aitch teased a relationship with a mystery woman on TikTok before admitting it was Dimoldenberg, and she even cameoed in his music video for “Baby.” Dimoldenberg’s entire act on “Chicken Shop” is trying to find her significant other, so it was sweet to see that come to fruition here. In the end, though, the pair decided they were better off as friends. In 2022, a month after they went public, the duo released a TikTok video announcing their breakup and exchanging matching nifty “Best Friends” bracelets.
#8: “Be a Guzzler”
Lewis Capaldi is exactly the right personality for “Chicken Shop”, which pretty much made the entire date a winner. From the off, Capaldi encouraged Dimoldenberg to “be a guzzler” as she downed her drink. Capaldi did the same, only for the beverage to wreak havoc on his insides, which ultimately led him to a rather personal story about his, uh… recent elimination of bodily waste. The moment quickly ended up all over social media, for obvious reasons. Well if he was that comfortable on a first date, it’s probably a good sign.
#7: Peckham Wetherspoons
In 2020, the Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya went on a date with Dimoldenberg. The opening was delightful, with the show’s creator making jokes about Kaluuya’s fame. But when Dimoldenberg asked him about his worst date, we got a big peek behind the curtain with only a few words. He first opened with “Peckham” and “Wetherspoons” and, then after admitting he couldn’t remember much, ended with the words “shots” and “disabled toilets.” Well, we’ve got the full picture there, thank you. While that was a standout moment, other moments also made the rounds like, Dimoldenberg paying Kaluuya a rather adorable compliment.
#6: Lunch at the Chicken Shop
Oh, boy. Get out those fans to cool yourself down; this was one of the flirtiest episodes in the show’s history. In 2024, Billie Eilish made her way to “Chicken Shop Date,” three years after her brother Finneas O’Connell was on and, from its opening, we knew we were in for a ride. Dimoldenberg joked that she wasn’t on the menu and Eilish responded with disappointment. Next up was Dimoldenberg trying on Eilish’s perfume, then comparing her physique to the bottle. The American musician suavely complimented the host’s assets before quickly becoming embarrassed. Another snippet that trended was Dimoldenberg slipping up about going on a date after her one with Eilish and profusely trying to reign it in after realising how that sounded.
#5: Becoming a Lawrence
If there’s one American actress who can match the brand of humour that Dimoldenberg is so good at portraying, it’s Jennifer Lawrence. It was a match made in heaven when the two finally met up for a date. On top of accidentally calling Dimoldenberg “Phoebe,” which has now become a running joke between the pair, the host asked if Lawrence’s brothers were single. The answer was ‘no’, but Dimoldenberg doubled down by suggesting she could be Lawrence’s sister, leading to a hilarious back-and-forth. Phoebe Lawrence does have quite a nice ring to it.
#4: The Awkward Kiss
In 2022, lead singer of The 1975 Matty Healy arrived on “Chicken Shop Date.” He did a great job matching Dimoldenberg’s character as he tried to turn the tables and make her uncomfortable on several occasions. Healy was also a good sport in mocking himself. When Dimoldenberg asked him about his least attractive trait, he responded with, “Probably my personality.” But the cherry on top was the ending as they wrapped up. After a few rejected parting gestures, Healy challenged her to kiss him. Obviously unexpected, Dimoldenberg had to think on her feet and improvise, which she’s said she really enjoys.
#3: “Can You Read?”
When asked about her favourite episode of her series, Dimoldenberg often mentions the Jack Harlow one. And for good reason. The American rapper spoke about his love of Little Free Libraries, small boxes filled with books that people are free to borrow and add to. With her trademark deadpan delivery, Dimoldenberg responded with quite possibly the funniest question she could have asked. Harlow’s reaction was just the icing on the cake. Fun fact, this amazing moment is also Dimoldenberg’s favourite piece of improvisation in the series. The rest of the interview didn’t disappoint as the two had a lot of chemistry, with flirty jabs coming in from both sides. Another highlight is Harlow referring to Lucozade as “Luca-zoid.”
#2: The Long-Time Coming Date
For years, whenever Amelia Dimoldenberg and Andrew Garfield met in front of cameras, their chemistry was off the charts. So much so that many fans pushed for them to hook up for real. However, Garfield was in a long-term relationship. But, in 2024, after he became newly single, it was announced that he would appear on “Chicken Shop Date.” And fans were beyond excited. As the longest episode so far – and yet still somehow too short – the duo picked up where their other interviews left off with a lot of flirting, especially from Garfield, who put forward the idea of a real date away from the cameras. The chemistry was so strong, we felt a bit like we were intruding on something private!
#1: The Iconic Rap
In one brief moment, an internet legend was born. In 2022, documentary icon Louis Theroux took Dimoldenberg up on “Chicken Shop Date.” At one point, she asked the awkward question if he liked music. This led to him performing the rap he did years ago on his “Weird Weekends” show. The DJ duo Duke and Jones then took this segment and turned it into the catchy tune called “Jiggle Jiggle,” which took the internet by storm as it wormed its way onto everyone’s feeds. Several other musicians, including Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Jason Derulo, also covered or released remixes. It just goes to show you can absolutely never predict when something will go viral.
