They are oh so good, but oh so bad, too. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Fast Food Hamburgers. For this list, we're looking at what we consider to be the greatest hamburgers in the fast food and fast casual industries. To be eligible, the burger has to be a widely accessible item from a major fast food chain, meaning no international exclusives, greasy spoons or mom and pop restaurants.

Special thanks to our users Rob Welch, Shea Oliver and ViolaCello for submitting the idea on our Interactive Suggestion Tool at http://www.WatchMojo.comsuggest!

#10: Papa Burger A&W

While this burger brand may be well known for its frosty mugs and root beer, it actually has some pretty kickass burgers as well, chief among them being the Papa Burger. The Papa is a part of A&W’s unique “Burger Family,” and its ingredients list contains everything that makes a classic burger, including the signature, delicious sauce. It’s nothing you can’t make yourself at home, but like most fast food burgers, there’s just something about it that you can never replicate. While the other members of the family are delicious as well, the Papa reigns supreme.

#9: Six Dollar Thickburger Carl’s Jr.

Top 10 Outrageous Fast Food Items

This restaurant, based in the Western and Southwestern regions of the United States, sure could use some expansion, because they have one amazing menu item: The Six Dollar Thickburger, so called because it is so good it’d cost six bucks anywhere else. While the pricing may come a little closer to the $6 mark these days, it was a great marketing ploy when the sandwich was unveiled in 2001, as it’s not only delicious, but also a beast of a burger, coming in at one third of a pound of charbroiled Angus beef alone. Thick, juicy, and fresh, this item is one that you need to try to believe.

#8: Whataburger Whataburger

Sure to be the subject of many awful puns, the Whataburger knows what it is and is proud of it. Based in the Southern U.S., this chain specializes in – you guessed it – burgers, and the brand was founded with goal of making a burger that required two hands and was so delicious you couldn’t help but scream its name. Their signature item is the Whataburger, which comes dressed with mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and diced onions or whatever you desire, as they can also make the burger to your specific order. The bun is also warm and toasted, adding to the delicious recipe – something more fast food places should consider. Wow, what a burger! Sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves.

#7: Slider White Castle

One of the first American fast food restaurants, White Castle has been popular since it first opened in 1921, mostly due to their famous sliders. With company co-founder Walter Anderson credited with inventing the hamburger bun, these little burgers with the thin, square patties, pickles and onions are known for their distinct size, unique taste, and their cheap price. Costing only five cents each until the 1940s, sliders became an American staple and helped the public overcome the long held negative perception of ground meat. Gaining new fame thanks to “Harold and Kumar,” the slider’s place in fast food history isn’t slipping any time soon.

#6: Baconator Wendy’s

Wendy’s has been a leading contender in the fast food business for decades, offering delicious hamburgers and unique concoctions, like the old school Big Classic or the newer Dave’s Hot ‘N Juicy, which is named for company founder Dave Thomas. However, it’s the Baconator that keeps customers coming back for more. More what? More MEAT! Added to the Wendy’s menu in 2007 as part of a “back to basics” revamp, the Baconator is meat on top of meat on top of meat on top of meat, with two patties topped with six strips of Applewood Smoked Bacon PLUS cheese. It’s a bit of an indulgence in the calorie department, but hey you only live once.

#5: Whopper Burger King

The signature burger from this worldwide chain, the Whopper has been amazing customers since its introduction in 1957, when it was the only burger of its kind – or rather its size. Nowadays, restaurants are always trying to one-up one another, resulting in bigger and better items, but nearly back in the mid-20th century, this was truly the king of all burgers. The Whopper has become synonymous with fast food, and led many imitators to try and capture its signature taste and style. Although tinkered with throughout the years, the Whopper remains true to its original “bigger is better” spirit with a flame grilled ¼ lb. patty.

#4: Big Mac McDonald’s

A fast food go-to, the Big Mac has been universally loved for generations. Introduced nationwide in 1968, the Big Mac’s ingredients are well known due to the infectious jingle that plagued the radio and TV waves throughout the mid-‘70s. Its famous special sauce was the subject of wonder for many years, and it adds a unique taste to the burger that is loved by patrons. McDonald’s even opened a Big Mac Museum in Pennsylvania in order to celebrate the burger’s 40th anniversary. An edible representation of American capitalism, the Big Mac is even used to measure the purchasing power of various countries. Now that’s a burger.

#3: ShackBurger Shake Shack

This New York-based restaurant gets its name from its famous milkshakes, but the burger is to die for. Originally based in Madison Square Park, this restaurant eventually expanded citywide, and is now one of New York’s treasures. Priding itself on hormone and antibiotic-free meat, the ShackBurger is made from 100% Angus beef and served on a Potato Roll (non-GMO of course) with cheese, lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce, but that all means its prices skyrocket above many competitors. However, you get what you pay for, as the burger has a homemade, fresh quality that most restaurants simply aspire to achieve. Grab a ShackBurger and shake and you’ll never want to leave.

#2: Bacon Cheeseburger Five Guys

A relative newcomer to fast food, Five Guys opened in 1986 in Virginia but has become the fastest-growing restaurant in the biz, mainly due to their delicious burgers – which, according to them, you can order 250,000 different ways. Earning praise from patrons and critics alike as it continues to expand, Five Guys has seen its menu items voted #1 Burger by Washington Magazine numerous times. Deliciously juicy and messy, the bacon cheeseburger really is a burger lover’s dream come true. These burgers certainly don’t go in and out of your memory! The Double-Double is named for its double burger, double cheese format and is topped with the restaurant’s own special spread, a selection of vegetables, and a soft, spongy bun. It may not be rocket science but there’s just something about it that keeps customers coming back for more – animal style. A fast food and cultural mainstay, though its locations are mainly found in the American Southwest, In-N-Out burgers have won fans in top-of-the-range chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Julia Child and armchair chefs alike thanks to their dedication to freshness and local ingredients.
