#10: “Got Your Money” (1999) Ol’ Dirty Bastard feat. Kelis

Also in:

Top 20 Funniest Music Videos Ever

Produced by The Neptunes, this pimpin’ track combined the gritty vocals of one Ol’ Dirty Bastard and martial arts visuals straight out of the 1975 Blaxploitation classic “Dolemite”. ODB synched up his vocals with the amazing action sequences and let the characters do the talking, along with subtitles that add some of that vintage flair. Singer Kelis made her record debut on backup vocals, and dons a classic 1970s afro, while all footage of Ol’ Dirty Bastard himself comes courtesy of his 1995 hit “Shimmy Shimmy Ya”. In typical ODB fashion, this music video was brilliantly bizarre.

#9: “Got Some Teeth” (2003) Obie Trice

Also in:

Top 10 Funniest Music Videos

In a parody of popular dating shows, Obie Trice kicked off the first of three rendezvous’ with a positive outlook, however by the end, he couldn’t find a single lady friend with a full set of teeth. That’s not to say that Obie didn’t give it his best, given he dropped some heavy poetry in the club by rhyming venereal with cereal and slammed several drinks courtesy of Eminem’s aggressively-mustached bartender. This video is a fascinating character study about a man unable to escape his greatest fears, as Obie Trice accepts his personal flaws, but all he really wants is a dame with a full set of natural chompers.

#8: “The New Workout Plan” (2004) Kanye West

Also in:

Top 10 Ridiculous 1980s Music Videos

As the fitness guru for women hoping to achieve a “6pac Shakur,” Yeezy created a fun-loving booty shaker complete with an instructional music video for ladies on how to reel in a “rapper, an NBA Player or at least a dude with a car.” The colorful production detailed the plan’s specifics in hilarious fashion, and even Fonzworth Bentley appeared for a Revenge of The Nerds-like vocal interlude. The song itself is perfect for any gym playlist, but the music video will have you sweatin’ from laughin’ your ass off. It’s that Kanye workout plan, and it’s not something you can find anywhere else.

#7: “Stand Up” (2003) Ludacris feat. Shawnna

Also in:

Top 10 One-Night Stand Songs

Produced by Kanye West, this song became Luda’s first number one hit, and the surrealistic music video featured Baby Luda, Afro Luda and several round booties, of course. With an informative declaration and authoritative command, “Stand Up” became the model for dirty south dancing, and Luda stomped the yard with a ginormous shoe while creating a unique party environment for all to enjoy. All participants involved seem to be strangely alright with everything happening in the video, while the striking visuals set the tone for a most fantastic voyage through Ludaville.

#6: “Baby Got Back” (1992) Sir Mix-a-Lot

Now here is the archetypal booty video perfect for a time capsule. By placing himself atop a massive set of fake buttocks, Sir Mix-a-Lot announced himself the International King of Booty and launched a lyrical breakdown about his inner freak. Never before had a man so courageously expressed his love for the female backside, and surely one day aliens will discover Sir Mix-a-Lot’s groundbreaking production and think, “Damn, that man loved him some booty.” It’s an undeniable fact that all rap videos post-1992 owe a little something to “Baby Got Back.”

#5: "F*ck wit Dre Day (And Everybody's Celebratin')" (1993) Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Doggy Dogg

Also in:

Top 10 Music Videos You Forgot Were AWESOME

This music video and song come with a bit of a backstory, so here it goes. Back in the late days of N.W.A., the group was seeing its fair share of feuds, specifically between Dr. Dre and Eazy-E surrounding the group’s contracts. When Dr. Dre released his first solo album in 1992, he couldn’t resist including a diss track towards his former group mate, while portraying him in the funniest way possible in the music video.

#4: “Make Some Noise’ (2011) Beastie Boys

Also in:

Top 10 Music Videos That Make Us Miss the '90s

Almost 25 years after their 80s classic “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!),” the Beastie Boys released a follow-up music video featuring Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood and Danny McBride as the young trio. Taking place directly after the 1987 original, the long-version of the video, titled Fight for Your Right Revisited, runs 30-minutes long and features cameos from the band themselves. Although the short version is hilarious in its own right, with celebrities popping up left and right, over the top partying, and some old school hip hop camerawork.

#3: “Gimme Some More” (1998) Busta Rhymes

This Grammy-nominated track is inherently Psycho, as Busta Rhymes sampled the main theme from Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1960 film. Looney in nature and comedically absurd, “Gimme Some More” features Busta Rhymes recalling his descent into lyrical madness as the leader of Flipmode Squad. He wears a western-style moustache and undoubtedly played a small role in meeting the yearly quota for hip-hop booty shots. This fish-eyed production gave us Busta at his best, as he entered the proverbial ring of hilarious rap videos.

#2: “Purple Pills” (2001) D12

Also in:

Top 10 Deep Purple Songs

Originally deemed too offensive for certain TV outlets, this Eminem-led music video conveys the essence of living in a purple haze. While the lyrics are sophomoric in nature - most notably the outrageous verse by the appropriately named Bizarre - the collective visuals effectively demonstrate what it feels like to be high as hell. It’s peculiar and Lynchian in nature, and the proof is in the pudding with the late Proof appearing as a drugged-out clown. These guys climbed Mushroom Mountain so that we wouldn’t have to, and the journey down must have been a crazy ride. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. “It’s Tricky” (1987) Run-DMC “I Wish” (1995) Skee-Lo “Just a Friend” (1989) Biz Markie “Parents Just Don’t Understand” (1988) DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince “All You Can Eat” (1985) The Fat Boys

#1: “The Real Slim Shady” (2000) Eminem

Also in:

Top 10 Best Eminem Music Videos

For his third studio album, Eminem upped the ante across the board. His lead single won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance, and the music video for “The Real Slim Shady” was crowned as MTV’s video of the year. Em offered up a little context for the selective outrage over his controversial lyrics while reminding cheap imitators that a little blonde hair dye doesn’t come with an ability to rap or understand the broader message of his lyrical content. Slim Shady called out the “innocent” superstars of pop music and effectively dropped the mic on all of his hypocritical haters that had emerged since his first unforgettable music video “My Name Is.” So, do you agree with our selections?
