Sometimes, being best friends means you go through some trials and tribulations – like finding out your best friend is actually a princess. If you’re Mia and Lilly, rest assured that things will work out alright in the end. When Mia finds out she’s actually the heir to the Genovian throne, her best friend Lilly is there for her – albeit with a good bit of snark. As one would, Mia gets really wrapped up in the whole princess thing, and starts neglecting her friendship with Lilly. But, she eventually realizes what’s most important, and of course Lilly forgives her. With her best friend at her side and of course a romantic foot pop, Mia is more than ready to be royalty.

Whether they’re watching scary movies on Halloween, going to Janis’ art show, or going to the Spring Fling together – platonically, of course – they’re rarely seen without each other. Damian stuck by Janis’ side when Regina started rumors about her, and Janis will always stick up for Damian – you better not call him [“too gay to function”] – that’s only okay when Janis says it.

Sam and Patrick’s willingness to take Charlie into their little family really speaks to how warm and non exclusive they are. It’s clear that Sam and Patrick are as thick as thieves, but they have more than enough room in their hearts for Charlie – and they can tell how much he needs it. And as far as we can tell, a friendship built on David Bowie and Come on Eileen is meant to be infinite.

Days before Chrissy is expected to give birth, the girls – now adults – return to their small Indiana town to help her. The rest of the film unfolds in flashbacks as the girls remember the summer that brought them closer than ever. It’s a truly beautiful tale of love, friendship, and growing up.

Boys have feelings, too – “Superbad” taught us many things about life, love, and the pursuit of partying, but it definitely also taught us that. High school friends Seth and Evan spend almost the entirety of this 2007 comedy trying to get booze, trying to get girls, and ignoring the fact that they’re about to go different colleges. Things, of course, come to a head, and the two get into a huge fight. But, as with any good teen movie, the two set aside their differences and finally just TALK to each other! Their “I love you” scene might be awkward, but we love it just the same.

When they find out everyone who partied still ended up getting into great schools, they decide to let loose for one night. The girls party on a yacht, try to flirt with boys and girls alike, and end up getting in a huge fight. But, as the sun rises, the girls apologize and we’re reminded how much these two love each other – enough to break each other out of jail to make it to graduation. That’s true friendship.

Nothing breaks up friendships like crushes, and nothing brings friendships back together like sports. In 2002’s “Bend it Like Beckham,” Jules notices Jess playing in the park, and tells her about the local girl’s football team. Jess tries out, but has to play in secret because of her strict, conservative family. Of course, both girls end up being attracted to their very good looking coach, Joe, and their friendship is on the rocks for a bit. But, it’s not that easy to get between these two – both girls work to patch up their relationship and end up on a plane to play in America together, friendship intact.

As if you could find a better friendship than this one! 1995’s “Clueless” was monumental in so many ways – the fashion, the quotes, the romance – but today we’re here to talk about the wonderful friendship between Cher, Dionne, and Tai. Cher and Dionne start off the film as an already iconic duo, but when new kid Tai shows up, they decide to take her under their wing. Things do end up getting a bit rocky - Cher loves a project, and tries to mold Tai into who she wants her to be – but she eventually realizes the error of her ways, and sees how each one of the trio brings their own special flavor to the group.

This iconic teen movie follows best friends since birth Bridget, Carmen, Lena, and Tibby. Right before they’re set to spend their first summer without each other, the girls happen upon a magical pair of pants that mysteriously fits all of them. They decide to mail the pants to each other throughout the season, hoping to share their experiences with each other even as they grow separately. We’re a little skeptical about some of their rules – seriously, you all should probably wash those pants – but we’re a sucker for this sweet teen movie.
