Top 10 Mind Blowing Stats from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid
Career

Hmm, this Ronaldo guy looks like he could be a decent signing for
Juventus. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today, we’ll be counting down
the top ten mind blowing stats from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid
Career.

With Ronaldo getting set to try to conquer the Serie A, we figured
it’s high time that we take a look back on the numbers of what was
nothing short of an incredible career with Los Blancos. From goals, to
trophies and more, it’s all in contention here, so long as it was done
in a Real Madrid kit.

#10: Sevilla's 27

Though Ronaldo wasn’t one to discriminate when it came to who he
scored against, he definitely had a soft spot for Sevilla FC. In the
nine years that he spent in Spain, Sevilla fans must have dreaded
seeing his name appear on the team sheet, as Ronaldo scored a stunning
27 goals against Los Rojiblancos. While Sevilla got the brunt of his
prowess in front of goal, Getafe CF and cross-town rivals Club
Atlético de Madrid got it bad as well, with Ronaldo putting 23 and 22
goals past each respectively. As far as his favourite team to play
against in UEFA Competitions? Funnily enough, that honour falls to his
new club, Juventus F.C., who picked the ball out of the net on 11
occasions thanks to Ronaldo.

#9: Four Ballon d'Or in Nine Seasons

Before Messi and Ronaldo, winning the Ballon d’Or - the trophy given
to the World Player of the Year - just once within your career was
considered a massive achievement. With legends such as Johan Cruyff,
Michel Platini and Marco van Basten winning the trophy three times
apiece, they’re the only players that have come close to Messi and
Ronaldo, who have both won the historic trophy on a stunning five
occasions. While Ronaldo also won the trophy while he was with
Manchester United in 2008, he managed to win it four times while
wearing the white of Real Madrid. As he got older, he won it more, as
Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or in four of the past five seasons.

#8: The Champions League’s Top Marksmen

Given his success in the competition, it’s no secret that Cristiano
Ronaldo saves some of his best performances for the Champions League.
While he was with Manchester United from 2003 to 2009, Ronaldo scored
15 goals in what is considered the toughest club competition in the
world. Once he made the move to Real Madrid in 2009, he went on a
Champions League rampage, scoring a stunning 105 goals, and becoming
the competitions top scorer of all-time. In the process, he was the
top scorer on a per-season basis in 6 of his 9 seasons with Real
Madrid, with his best ever goal haul being 17 goals. And yes, that’s
also a record goal haul for a single Champions League season.

#7: 16 Trophies

Ronaldo’s infectious thirst for silverware benefit not only his own
legacy, but helped to lift Real Madrid back towards the top of the
footballing podium as far as trophies won are concerned. While Ronaldo
was with Real Madrid, beginning in the 2009/2010 season, he helped
them to a stunning 16 trophies in 9 years. Ready for the list? Four
Champions League trophies, three Club World Cups, three UEFA Super
Cups, two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies and two Supercopa
de España trophies. Those 16 trophies from 2010 to 2018 translate to
Real Madrid’s most successful decade of all time, four ahead of the
1960s and 1980s which had 12 trophies apiece.

#6: Only 17.5% of Ronaldo’s Goals Were Penalties

The name “Penaldo” has been thrown around when speaking of the
Portuguese ace going all the way back to his days with Manchester
United, due to the fact that if his team is awarded a penalty, it’s
likely that Ronaldo will be the man to step up to it. Perhaps a victim
of his extremely high penalty conversion rate of 86.01% in club
football, Ronaldo seems like a natural choice as far as penalty takers
go. Despite this, don’t be fooled by the “Penaldo” claims, as from the
450 goals he had scored for Real Madrid, only 79 or 17.5% were
penalties. By the way, the rest of the breakdown is as follows: 338
goals scored from open play, 34 from direct free-kicks and as
mentioned, 79 from the spot.

#5: Eight Matches with Four or More Goals

Similarly to what we said about winning the Ballon d’Or on one
occasion, for a striker to have a single match in which he scored 4 or
more goals would be an incredible achievement. For Ronaldo however,
just one is not enough. Two, three, four matches don’t cut it either.
Ronaldo managed to four or more goals in a single match on no less
than eight occasions while he was with Los Blancos, with the last time
being when he notched four times against Girona FC in March of 2018.
On top of that, Ronaldo managed to score a stunning five goals in a
single match on two occasions for Real, including in the 2014-15
season against Granada CF, and against RCD Espanyol in the 2015-16
season.

#4: 61 Goals in 54 Matches

Yes, within a single season, not a calendar year. While Ronaldo did
manage to score a stunning 60 goals in 55 matches during the 2011-12
season, which is a ridiculous amount of goals within its own right,
he went ahead and did one better three seasons later. Following the
disappointment of Portugal’s 2014 World Cup campaign in which Ronaldo
was playing through an injury, he came back to Spain refreshed for the
2014-15 season, and went on to score a ridiculous 61 goals in just 54
matches. It wasn’t Madrid’s best season, but one that Ronaldo will
never forget, as he scored 48 goals in 35 appearances in La Liga and
10 goals in 12 Champions League appearances. The other three goals
came by way of the Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup.

#3: 127 More Goals than the Rest of Real

Of course, we don’t mean accumulatively in this case. When Real Madrid
signed Ronaldo back in 2009, they knew they were investing in a top,
top talent. But could they have predicted that he would go on to
become their all time top scorer in a club that has been home to
footballing legends such as Ferenc Puskás, Hugo Sánchez, Alfredo Di
Stéfano and Raúl? Perhaps they did, perhaps they didn’t. But one
things for certain: very few probably predicted that Cristiano Ronaldo
would go on to dominate the club’s top scorer rankings by this much,
as he managed to score 127 more goals than the second placed Raúl.

#2: 44 Hat-Tricks

Hat-tricks are hard to come by in any sport… unless you’re Cristiano
Ronaldo. In the nine seasons that he spent with Real Madrid, Ronaldo
managed to score 44 hat-tricks. 34 of them came by way of La Liga, as
he rained destruction upon his opponents in Spain. Seven of his
hat-tricks came by way of his favourite competition: the UEFA
Champions League, while the final three came by way of other cup
competitions. And yes, we know what you’re wondering: 44 hat-tricks is
indeed a club record for Real Madrid. Just as a side note, across his
entire career for both club and country and excluding friendlies,
Ronaldo has scored a total of 51 hat-tricks. We’re running out of
superlatives here…

But, before we get to our number one statistic, let’s take a look at a
couple of honourable mentions!

8 Minutes

Ronaldo’s first three goals against Granada in 2018 were scored in 8
minutes, equalling Real Madrid’s club record for the fastest
hat-trick.

Nobody Within 21 Goals

Besides his first season with Real Madrid, no teammate has managed to
come within 21 goals of Ronaldo in every subsequent season.

#1: 450 Goals in 438 Matches

Could the number one spot really be dedicated to any other statistic?
While he started as a winger, Ronaldo has moved more and more central
positionally as he has gotten older. And as he has aged, his playing
style has changed from a rapid, shifty winger into more of a
fox-in-the-box striker who seems to be on the end of every cross and
cutback. Throughout nine seasons, Ronaldo managed to score 311 goals
in La Liga, 105 in the Champions League, 22 in the Copa Del Rey, six
in the Club World Cup, four in the Supercopa de España, and two in the
UEFA Supercup for an average of 1.02 goals per game. Oh yeah, and he
also grabbed 119 assists along the way. That works out to about four
goals for him, and one for his teammate.
