Top 10 Overpowered Anime Heroes
For this list, we'll be looking at the protagonists and other heroes from anime series whose abilities, skills, and abilities make them ridiculously powerful, both in their respective series and in general.
#10: Korosensei
“Assassination Classroom” (2015-16) At first glance, this yellow, octopus-like teacher may seem odd, and not exactly what you’d expect from an overwhelmingly powerful character. But Korosensei is nigh unbeatable. Despite being a genius former assassin, Koro-sensei’s real strength lies in his unusual body, which is composed of antimatter. This makes him invulnerable to nearly any weapon, except those specifically designed to circumvent his physiology. He’s also superhumanly fast, can regenerate, camouflage, and many other bizarre things too. With all that going for him, it’s no wonder his class has such a hard time killing him.
#9: Tatsuya Shiba
“The Irregular at Magic High School” (2014) Sometimes it’s the outcasts who cast the strongest magic. Tatsuya Shiba may not conform to the what most of his society considers “magic,” but his strength is anything but ordinary either. Besides his remarkable intelligence, skills in engineering and in hand-to-hand combat, Tatsuya also displays the ability to predict magic attacks and can also use a kind of magic that requires no activation, as well as several types of specialized magics, when most people can only use one. Now if only he could conjure up something resembling a personality…
#8: Kirito
“Sword Art Online” series (2012-) Kazuto Kirigaya, better known by his screenname Kirito, is the hero of “Sword Art Online.” A beta-tester for the titular VR fantasy adventure game, Kirito begins the series at a higher level than nearly all the other players, putting him at a distinct advantage, in both the damage he can take and is able to dish out. Kirito’s nearly flawless string of victories is only marred on a few occasions, and usually because his opponent cheated somehow, though he’s not without his cheating moments too. With that kind of track record, and his vanilla personality, it’s no wonder people find him a polarizing protagonist.
#7: Medaka Kurokami
“Medaka Box” (2012) The beautiful and forcefully charismatic student council president of her school, Medaka Kurokami’s classmates may all be abnormal, but she’s the most powerfully divergent of them all. Blessed with an exceptional intellect and growth rate, Medaka is capable of learning at an unparalleled speed and is able to learn not only mundane information and skills, but also the special abilities of her opponents, which she can use even more effectively than they can. This, on top of her already superhuman strength and speed make her pretty much unstoppable.
#6: Naruto Uzumaki

“Naruto” Franchise (2002-) The titular hero of most of this magical ninja adventure franchise, Naruto Uzumaki may begin his series as a troublemaker, but he grows to become one of the strongest ninja in his world’s history. Although a decent enough fighter, Naruto primarily relies on two strong techniques or variations on them: Shadow Clones and the Rasengan, a swirling ball of destructive energy. Oh, and there’s also the enormously powerful giant demon fox sealed inside him, whose powers he learns to harness over time, along with receiving every other major power-up that his rival doesn’t have. By the end of “Shippuden,” Naruto is a veritable ninja god. And we “believe” in him.
#5: Meliodas
“The Seven Deadly Sins” (2014-18) Leader of the group of disgraced knights that give this series its name, Meliodas may seem like a cheerful, rather perverted, young-looking guy, but there’s more to him than meets the eye. Meliodas is actually a demon, which grants him physical strength and speed greater than most humans; becoming stronger the more he embraces his demonic heritage. In addition, his innate magical ability allows him to reflect any magical attack back at his attacker at double the power. And he hasn’t even reached his full potential yet: manga readers know what we’re talking about!
#4: Madoka Kaname
“Puella Magi Madoka Magica” (2011) A generally timid and kind-hearted girl, Madoka Kaname encounters a group of magical girls who battle witches in exchange for wishes. While Madoka is not a magical girl, her latent powers are considerable. It’s eventually revealed that this is because one of her friends has been repeating the same month over and over; thus focusing each successive timeline on Madoka. When Madoka does finally make her own wish, to avert all magical girls from becoming witches, she ascends to become a goddess of the newly created universe and lets face it, deities are generally pretty OP.
#3: Simon
“Gurren Lagann” (2007) Few characters have had quite the meteoric rise from zero to hero as Simon the Digger. Once a humble kid lacking courge, Simon grows over the course of “Gurren Lagann” to lead his friends against various foes, culminating with the Anti-Spirals, whose massive, cosmic forms prove even a match for their impressive mechas. Still, the finale sees Simon master spiral energy; allowing him to overcome the enormous galactic entities in battles on an impossible scale, while altering the rules of reality itself and creating mechs from his mind bigger than the entire universe! It may not make sense, but it’s so awesome, we don’t care.
#2: Goku

“Dragon Ball” Franchise (1986-) The martial arts loving perpetual protagonist of the long running “Dragon Ball” franchise, Goku has usually been stronger than everyone around him, but recently, he’s taken it to whole other level. Each new form he’s attained has been stronger than the last, and his most recent, Ultra Instinct, is powerful enough to give even gods of Destruction, who can destroy planets, a run for their money. Granted, while it has awful side effects afterwards, Goku is still able to use it to respond to nearly any attack instantly, while also dramatically increasing his already monstrous strength and speed. And we’d be willing to bet it won’t be his final form.

“One-Punch Man” (2015-) The average guy who’s a hero for fun that lends the show its name, Saitama can, naturally, defeat anyone and anything with one single punch. But that’s not all, thanks to his…uh, “intense” training regimen, he’s become the strongest hero in the world. Saitama’s speed eclipses sophisticated tracking systems and he can jump between the moon and the Earth. Since gaining his powers he’s never once been injured. The force of his serious punches can alter the weather over a hemisphere! Saitama may find his overwhelming power “boring as hell,” but we find it and him incredibly entertaining.
