Okay, let's get the obvious one out the way. Plushies. There are so many Pokémon plushies out there, there’s probably enough to fill a whole Pokedex. But if we had to recommend just one, we would have to go for the franchise’s mascot. Might sound cliché, but come on, just look at it! It’s a giant Pikachu plushie with a permanent resting adorable face. Add it to your existing collection or hug it when you’re reminded of how terrible the world is right now. Useful either way!

A live-action Pokemon movie that didn’t suck, paid homage to the source material, and most importantly had Ryan Reynolds voicing Pikachu. It was a win all round. For those of you still on the fence because Hollywood plus video games equals disaster, this is still worth a watch. At worst, you get a lot of great Poke-puns and get to see some of your favourites lovingly animated into the real world. At best, you’ll have a blast watching Pika-Pool bring the thunder against Mewtwo!

Just to clarify, we’re talking about the new releases of the Sword and Shield games that come with the built in DLC. While it's debatable if there should even be Pokémon DLC, getting to continue our Galar adventure with an extra content is always going to be fun. One of the most immersive Pokémon gaming experiences to date, the base product will have you spending hours working towards becoming champion and ticking all those other enjoyable boxes. The bonus being that right after you can head off to a separate region thanks to the expansion pass and capture plenty of new legendaries.

Given how the card game and card collecting has come back into fashion, this is the perfect starting point for anyone wanting to see what all the hype is about, or who fancy reliving their childhoods. Not only does it have all hints and tips to explain the game, but also provides mini portfolios if you’re lacking in storage space for what will become a sizable collection. As for the cards themselves? Anything that gives you a hundred eighty cards right off the bat with a guaranteed Charizard, Raichu and Mewtwo has to be worth something!

Maybe you’re not after a massive line-up of Poke-figures. Maybe you just want something small to decorate your desk that won’t take you hours putting together. If that’s all you’re after, you could do a lot worse than grabbing a handful of these, though don’t be surprised if you suddenly have the urge to collect them all. The funko revolution took all of geek culture by storm, and to this very day it's continuing to pump out new ones in the style of various Pokémon. They’ve certainly got plenty to choose from, and while there’s not an excessive amount of variety out right now, they’ve got some real winners under their belt. Come on, as if you’d pass down the opportunity to have all the Eeveelutions propped up around your room. If you’re not going to do it for us, then do it for Cubone!

It’s Lego, but it’s not, but it still kind of is. If you fancy channelling your inner nerd, then crafting the most fearsome Pokémon of the first generation out of blocks is a good way to go about it. While still a ways off from building your own mini Death Star in terms of difficulty, it should still make for a fun challenge, especially if you’ve got a Poke-passion for crafting and posing figures. Maybe next time they’ll raise their game and push out a Rayquaza variant.

Ah Nendoroids, for those of us that want pose-able chibi figures. Love or hate her, out of all the human characters to get their own figurine, Lillie from the Sun and Moon series came out the best. There’s just something sweet and wholesome about the attire, expression, and the fact you can pose her with her beloved Cosmog. That and trying to get your hands on Red will cost you an arm and a leg, so at least this is a decent alternative.

Come on, you can’t call yourself a retro fan if you don’t own the first season of the anime! For many, this wasn’t only a great introduction to the franchise, but would be their gateway to the anime scene. Introducing us to Ash, making Pikachu a household name, the original ladies man that is Brock, best girl Misty, and countless childhood memories of watching Poke battles. Say what you will about the late 90s dubbing quality and censorship, the nostalgia is strong with this one.

There are times when something warrants a purchase because it’s cool as heck, and in the world of Pokémon, nobody is cooler than the ultimate psychic type. While it can’t be posed or put together like other action figures, it does have the most detail, made all the better by its size and that it glows with a push of a button. This is very much a purchase for the hardcore fan wanting to put in a little extra, but at the very least you’re getting the best-looking collectable to date.
