Top 3 Things You Missed in Season 7 Episode 1 of Game of Thrones Winter is finally here. Welcome to Watch the Thrones, the weekly show where we take a look at some of the easter eggs, important moments, and theories from the newest episode of Game of Thrones. On this episode, we’ll be taking a look at Season 7, Episode 1, “Dragonstone.” #3: The Lion, the Map, and the Prophecy Cersei Lannister is the Queen of Westeros… again. While this scene between Cersei and her twin brother/ lover Jaime might not have seemed all that important on the surface, attentive viewers may have picked up on the curious positioning of these two and where they were standing on the map of Westeros. Cersei is standing on top of the southernmost part of the North known as “the neck” while Jaime is hovering east of “the fingers,” a series of narrow peninsulas located in the Vale. Neck… fingers… could this be a hint at the eventual fate of this brother-sister romance? According to the prophecy delivered to Cersei as a child by Maggy the Frog, she is to be killed by her younger brother. Obviously, given their history, Cersei thinks that Mag was referring to Tyrion, but she has a tendency to misread this prophecy, meaning it could, in fact, be Jaime who will eventually kill his one true love, and add “queen slayer” to his laundry list of titles. #2: Westerosi Popstar Ed Sheeran Everyone’s favorite ginger heartthrob Ed Sheeran made his Game of Thrones debut sitting alongside Arya Stark for some food, wine, and laughs in what was an uncharacteristically gentle and human moment. At the star of the scene, Sheeran is singing a tune from the books that has yet to make an appearance on-screen: “Hands of Gold.” In the books, this song is written and used by a bard named Symon Silver Tongue to blackmail Tyrion over his secret relationship with Shae. In fact, Tyrion thinks of the song’s final line as he strangles Shae to death in Tywin’s chambers in the book version of this tragic scene. But since the song is being introduced in the show long after the Shae/Tyrion saga, could it be referring to someone else? Maybe someone who actually has a gold hand? As if this episode needed more strangling foreshadowing.... Before we get to our top moment from the premiere, here are some of the best lines from this week’s episode: Arya Stark (as Walder Frey) "Leave one wolf alive and the sheep are never safe" Jamie & Cercei "I'm the queen of seven kingdoms" "...Three at best" Euron Greyjoy "I got 1000 ships and two good hands." #1: Dragonglass Monopoly Finally, after over 60 hours of waiting, Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons, has touched down on Westerosi soil. The walk from the beach to her ancestral home of Dragonstone, which has been the seat of Stannis Baratheon’s rebellion since the beginning of the series, was an emotionally powerful moment fans of both the books and the show have been waiting for for a long, long time. But what does this mean in the coming fight between the living and the dead? Well, as Sam discovers, there’s a boatload of Dragonglass, a material which he himself used to kill a White Walker, just sitting there below Danny’s new headquarters. Seeing as Jon is desperate for Dragonglass to use against the Walkers, this could be the thing that finally brings Jon and Danny together. Of course, the Mother of Dragons has all the bargaining power in this scenario, meaning Jon may have to aid her in her conquest for the Iron Throne before he can take the fight North. That being said, taking his eyes off the Walker threat may prove a costly decision.
