The movie isn’t even out yet and already we’ve got a basket full of Easter eggs. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 3 Things You Missed in the Justice League Trailer. For this list, we’re taking a look at little details that only the most observant viewers caught in the “Heroes” trailer for “Justice League.” #3: Steppenwolf’s Parademon Army While the marketing campaign has given us a great look at our heroes, the villains have been mostly clouded in mystery. This trailer offered a glimpse of Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, a powerful general who commands an extraterrestrial race called the Parademons, who previously popped up in Bruce Wayne’s nightmare from “Batman v Superman.” One of the trailer’s highlights appears to be a flashback in which a man is transformed into a Parademon. This has led some fans to speculate that Steppenwolf wants to harvest humankind, increasing his Apokolips army and leaving the Justice League vastly outnumbered. Even if Steppenwolf is defeated, we have a feeling that a much darker enemy is on the horizon. #2: Ace Chemicals The Bat-Signal caught everyone’s attention in the trailer, but if you look down at the Gotham cityscape, one of the most famous locations in Batman lore can also be spotted: Ace Chemicals, the birthplace of the Joker. While the Joker’s origins have varied over the years, most incarnations borrow from “The Man Behind the Red Hood.” In this 1951 comic, it’s revealed that the mysterious Red Hood fell into a vat of chemicals and emerged as the Clown Prince of Crime. This backstory would later inspire graphic novels like “The Killing Joke” and films like Tim Burton’s “Batman.” It was even referenced in “Suicide Squad,” as the Joker and Harley Quinn take a dive. #1: A Nod to “Superman: The Movie” After being virtually MIA from the previous trailers, Henry Cavill’s Superman finally got some screen time here. In a dream sequence, Lois Lane finds herself at Kent Farm where a familiar face waits in the cornfield. These visuals have a great deal in common with a moment from Richard Donner’s “Superman.” While that scene centered on Clark and his mother rather than Lois, the scenery is almost identical and Cavill’s flannel shirt is a clear nod to his predecessor’s wardrobe. Although Joss Whedon helmed the film’s postproduction, Zack Snyder reportedly storyboarded and shot this sequence. Perhaps this means that even Snyder’s sick of the dark stuff and wants Superman to return to his optimistic roots.
