The Horror Is Coming: What to Look Forward to for the Rest of 2017

If you haven’t gotten your fix of scares this year with hit movies like “Get Out” and “Annabelle: Creation”, then there’s a lot more in store for the rest of the year. With Halloween approaching, the releases are just heating up. Here’s what we’re looking forward to for the rest of the year!

“IT” (2017)

To say people are excited about this remake of the Stephen King classic would be an understatement. Taking a page from the nostalgia textbook written by the Stranger Things crew, “It” brings The Losers Club to the 1980s to set up a two part saga that will see more haunting clown imagery than ever before. While Tim Curry’s shoes will be difficult to fill in the role of Pennywise the dancing clown, the trailer for this new adaptation seems to be taking a different approach, one that will certainly keep us up at night for at least the next few years. Release Date: September 8th, 2017

“Mother!” (2017)

Taking a more artistic approach to the horror genre, acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky is back in this tense new thriller that early reviews are calling “the most controversial movie since “A Clockwork Orange”. Jennifer Lawrence is dusting off her inner scream queen, last seen in the largely disappointing 2012 film “House at the End of the Street”, while Aronofsky looks to be back to doing what he does best, scaring our pants off while simultaneously leaving us scratching our heads. Release Date: September 15, 2017

“Happy Death Day” (2017)

By now, we’ve all seen the 1993 Bill Murray classic “Groundhog Day”. If you ever wanted to see what would happen if Phil Connors had to live through a slasher movie time loop, you’re in luck! “Happy Death Day” is the latest from Blumhouse Productions and hopes to bring a new horror villain to the pop culture zeitgeist. If there’s anything creepier than the masks of Leatherface and Jason Voorhees, it’s a cute baby that never stops smiling. Release Date: October 13, 2017

“Jigsaw” (2017)

If you thought seven installments of this beloved torture porn franchise was enough then think again. Taking place ten years after the events of “Saw: The Final Chapter”, this new iteration hopes to bring a next generation of gruesome traps, plenty of twists and turns, and a new Jigsaw that’s just as sick and twisted as the previous one! Our barf buckets are ready! Release Date: October 26th, 2017
