City Shrouded In Shadow: The Ultimate Kaiju Video Game?

Prepare To Run Like Hell

There are no shortage of video games that have you assuming the role of a giant monster or robot and causing untold devastation on an unsuspecting city. Now those are all well and good, but it also raises a certain question…

Ever wondered what it would be like to be one of the people caught amidst said devastation? What if you were just an innocent bystander who watched as all manner of kaiju ran amok? How would you survive?

Well, wonder no longer, because City Shrouded in Shadow is here to answer that very question!

According to an article on Crunchyroll

A new preview video has been released for City Shrouded in Shadow, an upcoming game for the Sony PlayStation 4 system that features famous monsters and mecha from TV, film, and animation creating disastrous urban scenarios that the players must try to navigate safely.

City Shrouded in Shadow is published by Bandai Namco Entertainment and developed by Granzella Inc., the makers of the Disaster Report series. Similar to Disaster Report, the goal of the game is to advance the storyline while surviving numerous (and sometimes hilariously implausible) catastrophes. Instead of natural disasters, in City Shrouded in Shadows players face off against Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman, Eva Unit-01, and more.

City Shrouded in Shadow will be released in Japan on October 19, 2017.

Wait, did they say Eva-Unit? DAMN IT SHINJI, WHAT DID YOU DO NOW?!

Seriously though, this game sounds like it is either going to be a unique experience or so hilariously awful it will be a joy to play through regardless. While we’ve grown accustomed to watching Godzilla lay waste to Japan, actively turning tail and trying to avoid his atomic breath does sound like an interesting concept.
