Is This One Of Reigen’s Scams?
With plenty of comedy and charm to its name, not to mention some truly trippy visuals, Mob Psycho 100 cemented itself as one of the most enjoyable anime of 2016. We still can’t wrap our heads around some of its balls-to-the-wall fight scenes!
So naturally, its getting a live-action adaptation. On Netflix.
According to an article on IGN –
A live-action TV adaptation of Mob Psycho 100 has been announced and will premiere in Japan in just a few months.
As reported by Cinema Today (via translation by Anime News Network), TV Tokyo will produce the live-action series in collaboration with Netflix. TV Tokyo will air the show starting January 2018 in its “MokuDora 25” time slot, which is from 1:00-1:30am on Fridays.
Tatsuomi Hamada will portray main character, Mob. KÅichi Sakamoto is directing the show, with Fuminori Kobayashi serving as producer.
Mob Psycho 100 follows Mob, an 8th grader with powerful psychic abilities who uses his powers to exorcise evil spirits. The anime adaptation of ONE’s webcomic, the first season of which premiered last year, will continue at Studio Bones.
Okay, so maybe it won’t be as bad as the Crazy Adventures of Light Turner, but we still have some concerns.
The fact it is being produced in Japan means that at the very least it won’t lose its cultural aspect, so that’s something. However, the fact that the show relies on such outrageous comedy (mostly involving the characters’ crazily distorted expressions) might equate to the humour in the adaptation coming across as a bit…off-putting. Not to mention the previously mentioned wild visuals. If the series isn’t careful it could end up looking like a adobe aftereffects massacre.
In spite of this, it can all be forgiven if the studio manages to accomplish one thing; get Reigen right. From there it should be nothing but smooth sailing!
