Is Snake Getting The Kong Treatment?
After hearing of his passion, dedication and approach to pitching the live-action adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s masterful stealth video game, we had renewed faith in the likes of director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. From the responses he gave in interviews, it was clear that he had a distinct vision on how to craft and handle the transition from game to movie. Heck, we wouldn’t have been surprised if he decided to write the whole thing himself as well.
However, its been recently announced that screenwriter and Vogt-Robert’s previous collaborator Derek Connolly is going to be coming in to work on the project as well. Connolly himself being the man behind the scripts for Kong: Skull Island, Jurassic World and its upcoming sequel.
According to an article on Variety –
Derek Connolly, who penned the box-office smash âJurassic Worldâ as well as the filmâs upcoming sequel, has been brought on to write the latest draft of Sonyâs âMetal Gear Solidâ adaptation.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Connollyâs collaborator on âKong: Skull Island,â will direct the feature film.
Avi Arad is producing.
Created by Hideo Kojima, the âMegal Gear Solidâ video game first launched on PlayStation in 1998 and follows Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit.
Connolly and âJurassic Worldâ helmer Colin Trevorrow were discovered by Steven Spielberg following their breakout Sundance hit âSafety Not Guaranteed.â
Following the huge success of Universalâs âJurassic World,â Connolly has found himself very busy landing jobs on âKong: Skull Island,â Amblinâs âIntelligent Lifeâ as well as âJurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.â
Given your views on Jurassic World, this may excite you or fill your heart with absolute dread. No way to know what the outcome will be until we see our first glimpses.
At the very least, maybe the fight with Metal Gear Rex will match the fun that came from the Tyrannosaurus taking on the Indominus?
