Geralt of Rivia’s monster hunting journeys have become more than a little popular in recent years, so much so that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt became one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time. Packed with so much rich lore and thrilling battles, the whole franchise has rocketed to the forefront of gaming culture, becoming the new standard for what we expect from our fantasy RPGs. Of course, all of this wouldn’t be possible if it didn’t have a cast of characters we both loved and despised, with these ten standing at the top!
Fair warning, there are MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!Â
#10: Olgierd von Everec
One of the most complex characters that Geralt has ever encountered, this nobleman is as much a villain as he is a victim. Sure, he’s done horrible things, but does he really deserve to have his soul sucked out by the monstrous Gaunter O’Dimm?
#9: Regis
Turns out not all vampires are bloodsucking lunatics, some can turn out to be morally conflicted beings who pride themselves on concepts such as honour and friendship. Regis is one such creature.
#8: Letho
Sure, he doesn’t have Geralt’s swagger and he’s beheaded more than a few kings, but there’s just something about this witcher that makes him such a joy to be around. Might be the accent.
#7: Dijkstra
If it weren’t for the monsters that populate Geralt’s world, this man just might be the most dangerous foe the White Wolf has ever faced. His network of spies, his lack of empathy and ambition to rule made him a character we hated at times, but still felt an odd respect for.
#6: Zoltan Chivay
Possibly one of the greatest dwarven characters in recent memory, there’s nothing Zoltan loves more than a good drink and a game of Gwent. Of course, when Geralt comes a calling, he’ll do whatever he can to aid his old comrade.
#5: Triss Merigold
A talented sorceress who much like her namesake has a heart of gold, Triss has appeared across all three of the Witcher games, and as a result has become one of Geralt’s longest running love interests.
#4: Dandelion
He’s a self-proclaimed master bard, and might just be the flashiest dresser in the whole Continent. More of a lover than a fighter, it’s just a shame Dandelion never knows when to shut his damn mouth!
#3: Ciri
Geralt’s pseudo-daughter, the legitimate heir to the Nilgaardian Empire as well successor of the Elder Blood. Ciri has a lot on her plate. However, her space-time altering abilities haven’t dulled her sense of adventure or the bond with her Witcher dad!
#2: Yennefer
The White Wolf’s one true love isn’t only a talented sorceress, but also one of the sharpest ladies you are ever likely to encounter. Despite her fearsome exterior, there’s no denying she adores Geralt and is a natural when it comes to being a mother to Ciri. Oh, and she likes making love on-top of stuffed unicorns.
#1: Geralt of Rivia
He’s not a hero. He’s a professional. Slayer of monsters, bedder of women, and depending on player choices either a lone wolf who follows the path or a beacon of hope for others to look up to. For all his grouchiness and hatred of portals, Geralt is anything but simple.
