If there’s one animated sequel we can’t wait to see in 2018… well, it would probably be The Incredibles 2. If we had to pick a close runner-up, however, it would undoubtedly be Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. The original 2012 film delved into the world of video games, showcasing a few familiar faces (Sonic, Bowser, Q*bert), as well as some new characters who were destined to level up into our hearts (Ralph, Vanellope, Fix-It Felix, Jr.). Disney finally gave us a good look at the upcoming film in the following teaser.
We’ll have to wait until November 21, 2018 to see the movie, but for now we can dissect the trailer and its numerous Easter eggs.
3. Star Wars Easter Eggs
It’s been reported that C-3PO, R2-D2, and Yoda of Star Wars fame will all make appearances in the film. Anthony Daniels will even reprise his voice as the protocol droid. In the teaser, you can spot collector plates featuring Yoda and Chewbacca in the background of Mr. Litwak’s office.
2. Website Easter Eggs
While we didn’t get to see a ton of video game cameos, the preview is loaded with plenty of Internet Easter eggs. Upon arriving in a shining new world, Ralph and Vanellope are surrounded by numerous different websites and apps. Many of them are parodies of existing companies, although you can spot a few actual sites like YouTube Red, TripAdvisor, National Geographic, Mashable, IMDb, and eBay.
1. Moana Easter Egg
During one of the teaser’s funniest moments, Ralph and Vanellope get caught up in an iPad game where a rabbit eats one too many pancakes. The sequence is so hilarious that you might’ve missed the fact that the little girl playing the game is actually baby Moana. Auli’i Cravalho will return to voice the character in Wreck-It Ralph 2 along with all the other Disney princesses.
