Top 3 MCU Phase One Villains

You Never Forget Your First Supervillain

It’s hard to believe that after ten years of epic superhero cinema, we are finally on the cusp of the ending to this epic saga. Well, at least until Phase Four starts up. However, instead of looking forward to the exciting possibilities in a post-Thanos world, we instead want to look back to what felt like the golden days, to a time when nobody could ever believe the Avengers would ever appear on screen together. Ah, we were so naive.

While there certainly weren’t any Black Panthers, Ant-Mans or any of inkling that Spider-Man would make a return, there was certainly no shortage of Marvel awesomeness to tie us over, especially when it came to the villains. To that end, we’ve decided to list who we believe are the greatest bad guys to rear their heads in Phase One of the MCU!

#3: Iron Monger

As far as the MCU’s first ever villain is concerned, we think Jeff Bridges did a pretty fine job portraying the dirty businessman that was unafraid to get his plans bloody. Conniving, weirdly charming, and entertaining as all hell (especially when he hops in his own armored suit) Obadiah Stane made for a pretty solid start to what would become the series’ extensive rogues gallery.

#2: The Red Skull

Hail Hydra. While Captain America’s original outing is often overlooked in favor of its excellent sequels, there can be no denying The First Avenger still holds up very well, especially when it comes to this crimson clad Nazi. While he could be considered borderline cheesy in just how unapologetically evil he is, this German psychopath still managed to enrapture us with his devious ploys thanks to Hugo Weaving’s fierce presence.

#1: Loki

Who else but the God of Mischief? By this point in time Loki has had just as much development and screentime as the Avengers themselves, and easily steals every scene he’s in. While he was perfectly passable in Thor, he really came into his own during the first Avengers film. With dreams of grandeur, an almost thespian approach to his dark deeds as well as some major family problems, its no wonder that we can’t get enough of this Asgardian!
