With Black Panther dominating the box office for five weeks in a row, the MCU is showing no signs of slowing down. Given the unyielding success of this cinematic universe, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that more Marvel attractions are coming to Disney theme parks. According to a statement from Marvel, we’ll be getting three new areas at Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland.
A superhero-themed land will be making its way to Disneyland in 2020, showcasing characters like Spider-Man and various Avengers. This land will be anchored by the Guardians of the Galaxy â Mission: Breakout! ride, which opened in 2017. Expanding upon Disney California Adventure park, A Bug’s Land will be closed down in order to make way for more Marvel attractions. Huh, so that’s why it’s tough to be a bug.
A Marvel-themed area is also coming to Paris’ Walt Disney Studios Park in 2020. As part of a “hyper-kinetic adventure,” visitors will get to join forces with Iron Man and other Avengers. From June 10 to September 30, 2018, Disneyland Paris will also host the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes, a “live-action super-production featuring cutting-edge special effects and spectacular projections.”
Meanwhile, Hong Kong Disneyland will feature an attraction involving Ant-Man and The Wasp with other Marvel expansions on the way. This park already introduced the Iron Man Experience, which has quickly taken over as the resort’s most popular attraction.
Marvel isn’t the only Disney-owned franchise making great strides in the theme park industry. Toy Story Land is coming in June 2018 and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is expected to make its debut in 2019. In more ways than one, Disney is truly expanding upon a universe and we can’t wait to become part of it.
