Top 3 Things We Want To See In Resident Evil 8

The Infected Have Got Their Groove Back

It’s fair to say that Resident Evil 6 managed to derail the iconic survival horror series with its more action-orientated direction and overblown plot. Having a zombie dinosaur chasing down Leon in the middle of a mall is a far cry from the stellar scares of the original game. Luckily, the franchise has somehow managed to climb out of its pitfall and reclaim its crown thanks to the brilliance of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

The claustrophobic atmosphere along with a much tighter narrative certainly got it back into gamer’s good graces. With such an amazing comeback, we’re hoping that they keep the ball rolling and not slip back into old habits!

#3: Wesker’s Return

We’re still not sure if Resident Evil 7 exists in its own timeline or its just a very, very good sequel, but we’re hoping that it’s the former. Not only would it allow the developers to ignore past continuities and have a little more freedom, but it would also for the reintroduction and reimagining of iconic characters such as Albert Wesker. As Resident Evil’s most popular villain, giving him the grand return he’s warranted while also improving on his character motivations would do wonders. As long as they bring back D.C Douglas to voice him, we’ll be golden.

#2: Keep The Claustrophobia

For all of Resident Evil’s accolades, what stood out the most was the environment. The Baker Family House was cramped, diseased, dark and had the very real threat of Jack coming around the corner at any second ready to slice our heads off. That sense of panic needs to stay. Even if the sequel ends up being set in someplace like Raccoon City again, as long as it feels like the walls are closing in on us constantly, the developers will have another winner on their hands.

#1: Horror > Action

Resident Evil 7 managed to hit all the marks with it came to scares, but only about half of its DLC managed to replicate this. While End of Zoe and Not A Hero were boat loads of fun , they also felt like a step back to the action heavy days of Resident Evil 5 and 6. While we doubt they’ll revert back to their old ways with the upcoming sequel, we do hope they focus all their efforts into giving us new and unique horror experience as opposed to a frantic firefight. While we’re not asking for a carbon copy of what happened with the Bakers, we are hoping for a successor that improves upon the new bar they’ve put in place.
