Top 3 Skyrim Factions

When Being The Dragonborn Isn’t Enough

Are you an apprentice at the College of Winterhold? Do you seek to restore order by joining the Imperial Army? Will you join your fellow Nords in a battle for independence as a member of the Stormcloaks? No matter who you side with, there’s no denying that one of Skyrim’s main appeals was the amount of factions open to players. On the odd chance you couldn’t be bothered with taking on Alduin, the now legendary RPG offered numerous and extensive side quests that would see you shape the land with your choices, depending on where you allegiances lay.

While all had their perks, we believe these three stand above the rest, almost to the point where they could rival the main narrative!

Fair warning, there are SPOILERS AHEAD!

#3: The Companions

This could have very easily been a repeat of the mundane Fighters Guild from Oblivion, but luckily the developer saw fit to add something of a beastly twist. Not only do you join a group of badass mercenaries dedicated to  securing peace for Skyrim, but you also get the opportunity to become a werewolf. This handy new transformation, along with the inclusion of standout characters like Aela the Huntress, painted the Companions as a group of honorable warriors that you couldn’t wait to have a drink with!

#2: The Dark Brotherhood

We have never felt more like the ultimate assassin than we did while were in service to Sithis. Recruited by the withering family of cutthroats, not only are we tasked with carrying out an engrossing series of executions, but also find ourselves roped into the role of the Listener; the one destined to bring the Dark Brotherhood back to glory. Not only does each kill require careful planning, but the narrative is filled to the brim with twists and turns that takes us to some pretty dark places. How often do you get the chance to take out an Emperor?

#1: The Thieves Guild

This faction started out decent enough, but hardly exceptional. Carrying out various jobs in order earn some gold was all well and good, especially when we tasked with carrying out some pretty daunting heists. Then the whole takes the sharpest left turn possible when betrayal strikes the guild, leading you to become what we can only call the Batman of Skyrim, awesome costume included. Throw a whole host of Indiana Jones-level puzzles to traverse, and being a thief has never been more exhilarating or rewarding. Here’s hoping the Nightingales make a return in the sequel!
