Top 5 Drax Moments

“You Must Be So Embarrassed!”

While at first glance you might assume this figure to be nothing more than muscle and death rolled into one hulking frame, this particular Guardian of the Galaxy has gone on to cement himself as one of the funniest characters in the entire MCU. Even when all life in the cosmos is under threat, you can always count on the Destroyer to bust out hilarious dialogue at the most inappropriate moments, and how we love him for it!

Fair warning, there are SPOILERS AHEAD!

#5: Talks With Mantis
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (2017)

While we can all agree that Mantis might just be the cutest empath of all time, her appearance is certainly more alien than most. Even if we had issue with it, most people would keep their opinions to themselves. Not Drax. From the second they meet, he makes it very clear that he believes her to be the ugliest thing in all of creation. Oddly enough, this leads the way for them forming an adorable friendship. He may be blunt in his views of her looks yet still manages to convey how he finds her innocent and lovable. It’s strange to say the least, but then again they’re a strange couple.

#4: My Hovat
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (2017)

The tragedy of his wife and daughter’s murders haunt Drax’s character all throughout the MCU, leading him on a path of revenge against the likes of Ronan and Thanos. Of course, it’s not all doom and gloom, as Drax’s recounting of his fond memories with them often takes several unexpected comedic turns. One such example is when he decides to tell Star-Lord about how he met his wife at a war rally, where he fell instantly in love with her because of her utter disdain and ignorance towards all things melodic. Romantic, right?

#3: Invisible
“Avengers: Infinity War” (2018)

Leave it to Drax to take a beautifully dramatic moment and flip it on its head. After finally confessing their love for one another, Star-Lord and Gamora share a tender moment together…until they realise that Drax has been watching the whole time while eating chips. When asked for how long he’d been staring at their romantic rendezvous, he promptly informs them that it had been an hour. The only reason they couldn’t see him? Because he had mastered the power to become invisible. Classic Drax.

#2: Metaphors
“Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014)

Drax’s inability to understand sarcasm and confusion when it comes to social conventions have remained a core component of his character throughout his cinematic appearances. However, it’s fair to say that these were at their most potent in his debut. Whether it’s misinterpreting practically everything Star-Lord says or deciding that a metaphor is equal to brutally killing Ronan’s lieutenant, we never get tired of seeing Drax fumble his way through language and all of its conventions.

#1: The Laugh
“Marvel Cinematic Universe” (2008-)

Aside from his comedic sense of timing and incredible build, the best thing that Dave Bautista managed to bring to the role of Drax was probably his signature laugh. Whenever he bursts out into hysterics for any rhyme or reason, chances are we are going to be laughing right along side him. It’s that infectious. The best example of this easily goes to when Mantis’ reveals Star-Lord’s lust for Gamora, leading to Drax bellowing in joy at his friend’s awkward predicament.
