Can You Hear The Wedding Bells?
Everyone deserves a chance at happiness, it’s just a shame that the superhero profession often leads to a high divorce rate. Whether they managed to successfully hold it together or not, these five caped crusaders have all surprisingly still managed to walk down the aisle at one point or another in their lives.
#5: Batman
The Dark Knight has no shortage of lovers, two of the most infamous being that of Talia Al Ghul and Catwoman. As it happens, those two managed to actually push the Bat towards matrimony, though rather unsurprisingly things didn’t work out for the World’s Greatest Detective in either case. Talia drugged him in order to get a child out of the whole affair and Catwoman straight up left him hanging at the ceremony. Jeez, even the Joker is more committed than the ladies in his life.
#4: Quicksilver
The X-Men’s resident speedster has been portrayed as both a hero and villain across his time in the comics, as well as having rather indecent feelings towards his sister Wanda. Thankfully they never decided to marry in the Ultimates universe. However, he did end up tying the knot with Crystal of the Inhumans, which was kind of a big deal since she was originally the love of Johnny Storm’s life. Not that it ended up mattering since all manner of affairs and break-ups finished their marriage for good.
#3: Storm
The goddess of the weather is one of the most valued and respected members of the X-Men. As such, marrying the King of Wakanda sounded like a match made in heaven. That’s right, Storm and Black Panther ended up exchanging vows during the events of Civil War, and as such became a power couple not to be messed with. It’s a shame that this royal union ended up turning rather sour, and as such Wakanda was eventually left without a Queen.
#2: Hulk
The events of Planet Hulk showed that beneath all the rage and pain, all the Hulk wanted was peace, which he found with the warrior Caiera. While they started off as bitter enemies when he found himself stranded on the gladiatorial planet of Sakaar, the two eventually fell deeply in love and became the new monarchs…at least until a bomb went off and killed Hulk’s new wifey and their unborn child. No wonder he declared war on the Earth afterwards.
#1: Deadpool
Knowing how cruel fate can be towards the Merc with the Mouth, we shouldn’t be surprised that yet another one of his relationships fell to pieces. What was so shocking about this one however was that for the longest time it looked like he had finally found happiness. Unfortunately the Monster Queen Shiklah grew a disdain for humanity, ended up marrying Dracula instead, and left Wade to pursue her own goals. Not even a healing factor can bring him back from that rejection…
