The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards took place last night and while the show ended rather predictably with a Game of Thrones win, it definitely left us with some memorable highlights along the way. The show opened with a musical number that jokingly celebrated how “far” Hollywood has come and just how “diverse” the industry is now in a piece called “We Solved It”, that featured Kenan Thompson, RuPaul, Kate McKinnon, Sterling K. Brown, Kristen Bell, Ricky Martin and more. Another interesting sketch was a piece lead by one of the show’s hosts and SNL Weekend Update anchor Michael Che, who went around to some overlooked black actors such as Jimmie Walker of Good Times and Jaleel White of Family Matters and handed out “Reparation Emmys”. Finally, it wouldn’t be the Emmy’s without a proposal??? Not only did Glen Weiss win the award for Directing for a Variety Special, but he also won the heart of pretty much everyone when he proposed to his girlfriend during his acceptance speech! Good thing she said yes!
