Well That’s Just Prime…
Despite coming from a rather sordid history of cinematic abominations, fans and casual viewers alike have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Bumblebee spin-off film. With sharper visuals, an 80s setting and John Cena, there’s every chance we might get the giant robot showdown we’ve actually been dreaming of. That being said, there’s no forgetting just how stupid the franchise has been leading up to this point…
#5: I Am Directly Underneath…
By the time Revenge of the Fallen had reached it’s climax, it was nothing more than a medley of crazy and stupid ideas being tossed at the wall in the hope that something will stick. While you could assume the arrival of Devastator would make for an epic final fight, the fact he gets killed off so quickly throws that idea out the window. The only thing more embarrassing is the fact he has two wrecking balls swinging around in a rather precarious position between its legs.
#4: Sam’s Happy Time
While the first Transformers’ film is considered quite decent my many, there’s no denying that the levels of cringe in this one scene are too painful for words. While trying to keep his new Autobot buddies hidden from his nosey parents, Sam finds himself getting into an uncomfortable talk with his mother involving what he does with himself in his spare time.
#3: Dark Side of the Moon
There was a lot of randomness that made our brains hurt throughout Dark of the Moon but probably the one that got our goat the most was that little detail about how there have been Decepticons hidden on the moon for years on end. The fact that they aren’t even that well hidden and could be easily be spotted by anyone with a strong enough telescope just adds to the confusion, since this little number just messes up what little continuity the series had established beforehand.
#2: Skids and Mudflap
Annoying, unnecessary and horribly racist, these twins were by far the worst part of this sequel, and that’s saying a lot given how this flick was saturated with unfunny comic relief characters. Their painfully stereotypical dialogue will quickly have you praying for a Decepticon to blow their heads off, the knowledge that one is played by the voice of Spongebob Squarepants making the whole thing so much worse.
#1: Transformers Throughout Time
Just when you thought the franchise couldn’t top itself when it came to shear stupidity, along comes The Last Knight to drop the mother of all bombshells. Turns out the Transformers have been on Earth for centuries, and have been assisting humanity in their evolution. They aided King Arthur, defeated the Third Reich and were even good friends with Frederick Douglas. How do you expect us to process that much nonsense in one go?
