Did The Trailer Catch Em’ All?
After 22 years of games, stories, cards, animated series’, toys and more, the ubiquitous Japanese media franchise, Pokémon has succeeded massively and cultivated a devoted fan base worldwide. Yesterday was a huge day for these fans because Warner Bros. dropped the first trailer for a new film “Detective Pikachu“, which stands as Pokemon’s first ever live-action movie! The movie focuses on the franchise’s most iconic character, Pikachu, who works with a man named Tim, played by “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”s Justice Smith, in an attempt to solve the mystery of his father’s disappearance. This new realistic Pikachu is voiced by none other than “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds, as if the film’s May 10th, 2019 debut wasn’t already exciting enough. If you haven’t already seen the trailer, get on that now! And if you have seen it, you’ve probably got some opinions of your own, so let’s take a look at what the rest of the internet is saying! But first, make sure to check out our Trailer Breakdown and Reaction video here: Â
Now, let’s see how the rest of the internet has been reacting. For starters, the trailer has received some criticism relating to the classic Pokémon characters’ realistic transformations, but these comments have been quickly met with Twitter rebuttal:
I think the live action Mr. Mime from #DetectivePikachu is less creepy than normal Mr. Mime. Fight me. pic.twitter.com/KccRzkY1ji

All those years of Pokemon gameboy experience in the 90âs and nowhere to use it in the real world.
i cannot wait to flex on some 13-year-old kid at the 12:01 #DetectivePikachu premiere telling them their leveled up Onix would get smacked by my hive of Squirtles.

If you donât like the Pokémon designs in Detective Pikachu, unfollow me. Theyâre the perfect blend of realism and the Pokémon we love. Plus soft fuzzy Pikachu. Itâs objectively amazing. End of story.
