Gotta Catch Em’ All
Longtime fans of the mega-successful Pokemon franchise found themselves nearly overwhelmed when they first got a glance at the trailer for its upcoming on-screen adaptation. After all, not only did they get to see Charizard in live-action, but also had to process Ryan Reynold’s voice coming out of Pikachu’s mouth. Needless to say, many are excited purely for nostalgia’s sake. However, all we can think about is which of the original 150 will manage to make the cut!
#3: Eevee
The only thing cuter than Pikachu would be this little fluffball, with the popularity to match. Often described as the most adorable Pokemon of the bunch, it would be awesome to see this Normal type and its three Eeveelutions (Flareon, Vaporeon and Jolteon) get the star treatment in some capacity. Fans nowadays might be fawning over just how many evolved forms it has to its name, but you’ve still got to pay respects to the classics.
#2: Gyarados
The only Pokemon that can serve as a source of comic-relief one moment, only to transform into the stuff of nightmares in the blink of an eye. Magikarp might be the source of countless memes, but every wannabe trainer is aware of just how deadly its evolved form can be. In live-action, Gyarados can finally make good on its reputation as one of the most vicious and primal Pokemon in existence.
#1: Mewtwo
The legendary that everyone wanted to own, this psychic creation was kicking ass and taking names all before the million other Poke-deities appeared. As a being capable of besting all but the most powerful of trainers, having Mewtwo serve as a pseudo-antagonist would be epic. It would up the stakes and make for the ultimate obstacle for our titular detective to best. Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself and it doesn’t turn the protagonist to stone while trying to create a clone army!
