#5: Nick Wilde – “Zootopia”

Zootopia” was 2016’s animated hit, taking us into the action-packed and intriguing dynamic of a city run by animals and tackling authentic issues like discrimination and prejudice. Although he may only be the deuteragonist in the film, secondary to Officer Judy Hopps, this con-artist turned fox officer caught everyone’s attention with his facetious and charismatic personality, and given his trajectory from crook to cop in the film, a solo spin-off would definitely be interesting. Will his new position in the force hold strong, or will he sink back into his old cunning ways? We want to know! We also wouldn’t mind a Flash Slothmore cameo either, let’s be honest.

#4: Frozone – “The Incredibles”

WHERE. IS. MY. SUPER. SPIN-OFF!?! As Mr. Incredible’s best friend and an incremental player in the battles that take place in both “The Incredibles” and the more recent “Incredibles 2“, Lucius Best, a.k.a Frozone, has earned the right to the spotlight. Not only could this superhero voiced by Samuel L. Jackson carry an action-packed spinoff with his icy powers, but given the dynamic we’ve only heard in both films with his wife Honey, getting to actually SEE this relationship develop on screen would be highly entertaining.

#3: Mushu – “Mulan”

He is the guardian of lost souls! The powerful, the pleasurable, the indestructible Mushu! So give him a movie! In case you forgot, Mushu is the Chinese dragon from “Mulan” that appointed himself as guardian of Fa Mulan, but given his impulsiveness, fast-talking humour and egocentric tendencies, he usually causes more trouble than protection. “Mulan” and “Mulan II” proved that although he always redeems himself, this dragon’s fear of being demoted to gong duty gets him into a lot of trouble, so a film that places him in the protagonist role is bound to be filled with hilarious acts of selfishness and a series of entertaining mishaps.

#2: Scar – “The Lion King”

Second in line as King of the Pride Lands behind his older brother, the greatly beloved Mufasa, Scar was always jealous and spiteful, but when Simba interfered with his chances at the throne, he became the big bag antagonist in “The Lion King“. Although he met his demise in the film, it would be interesting to see Scar as the centrepiece in a prequel that tells the story of his upbringing alongside Mufasa. “A Tale of Two Brothers”, a book published in 1994 based on “The Lion King” could be a solid reference point to delve into the past that made Scar into the bitter character we know.

#1: Hades – “Hercules”

What is it with vengeful brothers in Disney films? Well, we don’t mind, in fact, you guys clearly want more! This animated Disney film from 1997 gave a comedic and imaginative spin to Greek mythology, topped off with an incredibly catchy soundtrack and Hades, the god of the Underworld with fiery blue hair and an evil master plan. His ultimate fate at the end of “Hercules” was ambiguous, although it seems he was swallowed by the souls in River Styx, so perhaps a dramatic and vindictive comeback story could occur, or a prequel similar to that of Scar mentioned in the entry above. It’s Hades’ turn to go the distance.
