5 More Times the MCU Foreshadowed Future Events

Prepare to Marvel Over These Hidden Clues!

At this point, we’ve come to expect more easter eggs than superheroes in Marvel movies, so over on our YouTube channel, we decided to take a look at the instances when the Marvel Cinematic Universe gave us specific hints for what was coming later on, including a death on Tony’s conscience in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” , “Avengers: Age of Ultron” predicting Civil War and Thanos and Prison 42 in “The Avengers”. If you watched that video and are interested in finding out 5 more sneaky references you probably didn’t catch, keep reading! P.S. We excluded post credits scenes, which have a list of their own and if you’re not all caught up, consider this your spoiler alert!

Black Panther’s Suit Predicts Killmonger’s Philosophy

“Black Panther” (2018)

The scene in “Black Panther” where T’Challa chooses a suit upgrade and opts for a more discreet silver neck piece, overlooking the more showy gold one offered to him, is a very subtle but effective use of foreshadowing. The scene may go unnoticed at first, but once you reach the end, you come to realize that this scene introduces the difference between he and Killmonger’s ideologies as King of Wakanda, strategic yet concealed innovation vs. narcissism and violent intervention.

Wrong Side of the Table

“Captain America: Civil War” (2016)

What started as a simple meeting, quickly became the sneak peak to the fate met by our favorite Marvel heroes that shattered the hearts of fans everywhere. Which meeting? The Sokovia Accords meeting in “Captain America: Civil War”. If you look back at this scene, you’ll notice that the original Avengers are sat on the left side and all survived Thanos’ snap in “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), while those on the right (Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Falcon) weren’t quite so lucky.

Iron Man and Captain America’s Shield

“Iron Man 2” (2010)

We’ve discussed the copious amount of easter eggs throughout MCU films that hint at Iron Man and Captain America’s rough relationship and this is another one. In “Iron Man 2”, Tony literally uses a shield that very closely resembles Captain America’s to prop up his particle accelerator. Does this allude to an element of co-dependence between the two (doubtful)? Or is it just another foreshadowing of their future fallout (probably)?

Sitwell Mentions Dr. Strange

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014)

S.H.I.E.L.D. double agent and Hydra member Jasper Sitwell mentioned the name Stephen Strange in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and the moment flew by quicker than you could even connect that name to its owner: Dr. Strange. While being questioned about who Project Insight is keeping track of, Sitwell quickly name drops to Captain America: “you, a TV anchor in Cairo, the other Secretary of Defense, a high school valedictorian in Iowa City, Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, anyone who’s a threat to Hydra!”

Wakanda on the Map

“Iron Man 2” (2010)

Considering this clue was planted 8 years in advance, we’re giving some well-deserved props to Marvel for pulling it off so discreetly. In the final scene of “Iron Man 2”, a map behind Tony and Nick Fury highlights several locations, including one particular circled zone in mid-Africa which is likely Wakanda. Wakanda really is forever!
