They are probably the longest lasting idol group and changed J-Music history when Love Machine came out, inspiring over 1 million japanese people during the recession in the late 90's.

They changed idol group history, being one of the first groups not to use gravure as it's main appeal, and not using typical idol stereotypes, instead adopting a more original approach. They were also the first all-girl group to perform japan national stadium, only 6 years after their indie debut
