The Mustang wasn't even ready when this movie was being shot but the producers HAD to have it and Ford wanted them to show it, so it really was a '64 1/2 model

Best part of this movie. The "H" in the model title indicated this was a Hertz car (also the Black and Gold paint job). Back in the day you could rent this monster
