While super strength has always been cool in general and easy to imagine. Back in the days you have to admit it wasn't done very visual and often times unrealistically. Another power that was easy to understand but again, when you see it done, it was always kind of boring. Often times the speed was use to disarm bad guys or tie them up. Even they way they looked when running didn't really leave and impression of being super fast. But in anime and manga, you really felt how power and killer super speed could be. In

Another power that seemed pretty harmless in early US comics and cartoons. Characters just kind of float there or seemed they couldn't touch anyone else in return. Anime took a more realistic and darker approach with this power. Not only did they show off the speed and real mobility in shows like Read or Die, but with full mastery of the skill also

Pretty much the hallmark of Japanese abilities. Back in the days, things like fire, lightning, heat vison etc. They were often reserved for inanimate objects. Metal a beam here. Power a motor there.
