The game insists players use the Sixaxis motion controls for movement while using the buttons for other actions. They were a disaster, and it lead to the game bombing critically and commercially.
A potential Switch Port of the game should hopefully be able to Improve upon the Controls.

The developers foolishly tried to cram as many of the game's controls onto the Wii remote by itself. Needless to say, it was far from ideal and made the game a chore to play.

The controls require players to shake the Wii Remote and Nunchuk like they're having a seizure to make their characters move forward and turn. It's the worst kind of design you'd find on third-party shovelware games. To add insult to injury, there's no option to use the bongo controllers despite the fact the game was originally designed around them

Whoever thought it was a good idea to put Mortal Kombat fighting game controls in a 2D platforming game should've been fired from the company.
